Love doing business with Roosts and Roots! From on line ordering to the completion of my new standup coup was a great experience. Customer service was exceptional. I put an entire section together incorrectly. The help line politely instructed me how to correct my error and when I shared I was concerned about a knot on the door frame a new door was shipped out and arrived within two days! Love my new coop, loved working with Roosts and Roots, I whole heartedly recommend this company!!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Pam! Knots can unpredictable. We were unlucky with that one, but we were happy to get you the new door! We are 100 percent committed to having your product function as designed. Our customer service is included in the price of your coop! Enjoy chicken keeping!

Overall I am happy with the build quality of the coop. However, the instructions provided to build the coop are fairly disappointing and difficult to go through. In particular, they should definitely update the drawings to be more clear and provide more steps in between, especially in terms of getting the orientation correct. Some of the wooden boards were missing the pre-drilled holes which also made it more difficult to build right. Some of the staples that were used to hold the wiring together were also loose and came off.

Thank you for the review, Diego. Over the last few years we gone through and updated our instructions to incorporate 3D cad software. The mobile coop you purchased is the only model left to convert. Your comments are fair and we agree that it is time to update. If you have some specific comments on portions that could be improved upon please reach out to us ([email protected]) and we will take them in account when we sit down this fall to make the changes. In regards to the missing countersinks. We apologize. I would love to know which ones were missing so I can use it as a teaching moment in the shop. We build everything my hand in the shop and our guys do their absolute best, but mistakes do happen. I'm sorry we did not catch it before it we shipped it out. If there were staples loose on any part of your coop that is most likely due to some rough handling in the shipping process. I am happy to replace that panel for you if you let us know which one is damaged. Thank you for your business. We are grateful you chose our company. I wish we had made the assembly process easier for you. I promise we will use this as an opportunity to improve.

Let me begin by saying that my new greenhouse looks great! From my first contact through assembly, the customer service teams were helpful, thorough and there whenever we had a question. The greenhouse was well-packed and arrived without damage - and kudos to the delivery truck driver who was able to get up my driveway. Assembly instructions were easy to follow & my 3-person team had the greenhouse built in less than a day. The hardest part is deciding just how I want the inside laid out for the best use of space… Thank you Roost & Root!

Thank you, Donna. We are happy to hear your Greenhouse went together well! When you get everything laid out we would love to see a picture ([email protected])! People have been very creative with their layouts.

I have numerous customers with the Roost and Root coops. I always suggest them for two reasons. They are laid out well and they resell exceptionally well when you are ready to go bigger. I have the Grub Cone and the chickens think it's called snack bar. They treat it more like a water cooler as they hang around and when a bug falls out it must sound like a gong to them as they all rush over. Many times several of them take off with a prize running feverishly to enjoy their prize not realizing there were enough prizes for all.

Thank you for the kind words! We sure are grateful for passing our name along to other potential customers. Enjoy your GrubCone. Please feel free to send us continued feedback and/or pictures of your system as you continue to use it!

I purchased a Roost over Run coop for my chickens and although the structure itself is very well made and sturdy the design is very poor. It's supposed to be for up to 10 chickens. I have only 5 and there's always a problem with them trying to lay as the lay box only fits two chickens at a time. My 5 chickens just about fit on the roost poles really not leaving enough room for any more chickens. The feed tube always gets stuck with feed and it doesn't fall down for the chickens to feed from at the bottom. The water tube also doesn't allow for the water to freely dispense from the nipple so my chickens don't use it at all. I had to set up another water feeder for them. The outside shelf of the roosting section has a mesh wire shelf and when it rains and snows it goes right through to the bottom of the run area which gets wet and floods and this is where my chickens sit when it rains and snows. I did purchase the storm panels and put a panel on this shelf, however it is not a tight fit so the water and snow still get through to the bottom of the run area. There's got to be a better design here!!!

Wish we had heard from you before seeing this review, Diane. We want all of our customers to be happy. Every model of coop that we sell is here on the property filled with our own chickens. We don't just build our products. We are experts at using them as well. I think our reviews show that we are eager to help customers through issues. The support phone lines stay open through the weekend so we can assist with assembly and chicken keeping questions. I don't see your name in our order database but it looks like there was a family member that ordered in April of 2020. I wish we had the opportunity to work through some of these concerns. Our products and our customers mean a great deal to us. If we knew you were having trouble with your coop, I promise we would have made attempts to help. When the company set out to design the Round-Top Backyard Coop, which is the model you own, we consulted with the poultry science department at Texas A&M University. Their recommendation for nesting boxes was one for every six birds. The Round Top Backyard Coop has two nesting boxes because it is a modular coop that can expand from a six bird coop in its standard form to a ten bird coop when you add a run extension. The University's recommendation in regards to roosting space was 6 inches per bird. The Round Top Backyard Coop has two 33 inch long roost bars. At ten birds, that allows for six and a half inches of roost space per bird. Ten birds (and sometimes even more!) fit comfortably in our Round Top Backyard Coop with the added run extension here on our property. The order I see on file doesn't have a run extension, so we would advise that you limit your coop in it's current form to six birds. The strongest recommendation from the professors at A&M was to prioritize ventilation. This is why we chose to use the wire mesh for the floor of the roosting area. It is also why we designed the storm panels to have gaps along the edges. Closing off air flow for your birds can create a number of health problems. We have over 5,000 Round Top Backyard Coops circulation all over the US. Our waterer design has remained the same since the original release of the product eight years ago. We've had great success. We always advice people to remove any other source of water from the coop when training their birds to switch to our design. If another source of water is left for them the birds will go to the path of least resistance. To be fair, our feeders do tend to clog with certain kinds of feed. I'm not sure which brand or kind of feed you are using. We may have some advice on a brand you could switch to that would allow for better flow to your birds. We are grateful for your business and that you chose us last year during the height of the pandemic scare. We are proud of our coop, but it seems like our product might not be a good fit you and your birds. That's disappointing for us, but we want you and your chickens to be happy. I will reach out and we can start the process of getting the coop returned and you fully refunded. I'm not sure the e-mail we have on file will reach you. If it does not find it's way to you please feel free to reach out to [email protected] or to call us at 877-741-2667.
