Their desktop app stopped working
Their desktop app stopped working, I reported it and they basically said they will not fix it. Not super happy with how this is run. It is a decent tool but will be looking for a new one

Editor and overall UI/UX is clunky but core app seems to be decent. However, I completely lost about 30 minutes of work that said it was saved. Support said they could not determine the issue so I am forced to redo the work and just hope it doesn't happen again I guess...

The concept is brilliant - but (unless you have a gigantic appetite for frustration and failure) the platform doesn't live up to the promise. The recording feature is horrendous. Guests have to wait for hours with the app open after the conversation/ recording to "upload" his/her/their recording. If they need to rush somewhere, then you simply cannot access the conversation. The end. And nothing you do can change that. Although tech support will make all the right noises, they are largely ineffective. It IS possible for you to access the separate tracks from Riverside cloud backup - but you have to put them together yourself which, of course, takes hours and hours. And why would you use Riverside to do that when there are 1001 apps that will record the entire conversation in one track for you to use in minutes. My suggestion if you like the editing features (and there are some things to like here), is to record somewhere else, upload to Riverside, use what you want, and then use another software to finish. Overall, for me, the fails outweigh the benefits. My recommendation would be to steer clear and look elsewhere. Or at the very least go in with your eyes open and beware that what you think you are getting may not be so. Update on 3 March 2026: I'm upgrading my rating to a 3 because the updates seem to have fixed some of the problems I experience previously, and am more than happy with these.

Didn't receive a email warning that a FULL year amount would be charged Update: They at least refunded me within a day or two.

I think when things go well it’s easy to say that Riverside is great but when they don’t I’m not sure yet how to evaluate. I have a video stuck in processing for days now. I Cant édit it or do anything with it. There is clearly a glitch and no response from Riverside to several emails. I’ll be back with another review when I see how they handle the tougher stuff. I’ve lost days in my schedule because of this glitch and have not received help. Yet.

Great when it works as expected. It can save a lot of time and effort on editing. The issue I have is with support. I've run into two issues and the response is underwhelming. Being sent links that's the equivalent of saying it's not us it's you is not remotely helpful. Especially when after back and forth they end up having to acknowledge the issue on their end.

Pros: -kinda beginner friendly -pretty easy for virtual podcast recording -post recording editing is pretty easy. Can push out a podcast pretty fast. Cons: -overly complicated for in person recording -Support is atrocious and takes so long to help. Not sure why they don’t have the ability to speak to someone on the phone. -mobile app settings and controls is so limited it’s wild. You almost require the host to be on a laptop to even set up a recording.

The quality of the recordings is quite nice. What I don't like about Riverside is that there are no humans to talk with if there is an issue. Case in point: I was recording an episode with someone who also had Riverside. She joined the studio but I only saw a black box. She could hear me and see me but I could not see or hear her. And since I was the host, that was problematic. (I had recently gotten off of another recording which went just fine...the issue must have been on her end but no one could figure it out) So when I REALLY needed customer support, I only get a bot who suggested myriad articles to read to figure it out myself. That is not customer support. We ended up using Zoom which worked beautifully. I think it would be wonderful for those of us less tech savvy adults to once in a while have a human to speak with.
