I have been using Riverside for a year and a half and it's always had glitchy problems that I needed to sort. Many I found a work round for, but the latest problem is entirely created by Riverside themselves. They have hidden the 'Script' feature behind a paywall all of a sudden. It's changed it's name to 'Teleprompter' which didn't work for my pod. I could toggle the 'Follow Voice' button to get something similar to what I had before but I don't want to pay more for the same feature. I shall find a workaround. Sadly, the response was that I could upgrade. Pay us more money. I feel undervalued as a customer, I should get more for my money, not less. It's a truly unpleasant experience. I rarely ever give negative reviews, but I only found this out an hour before I was supposed to interview someone. I hate that they are asking for more money for essentially what I already had. I might have put a star higher were it not for this problem, but I really feel like I'm being milked for money. I recommend looking elsewhere for a podcast creation programme. I may well change at the end of the year unless I can sort this.

i'm new to riverside - i picked it because it's the one everyone recommends for remote recording. this was one of my first real sessions on it: a professionally produced interview, studio booked, guest scheduled, crew on site. the session ran close to an hour. throughout the entire recording, riverside's app showed every sign of working: recording indicator on, active-speaker display following me as i talked, nothing flagged. when we wrapped, my guest's tracks were there. mine - the host track - did not exist. and i don't mean a failed upload. i went through riverside's local data on the recording machine myself: the host upload was marked complete with 0 bytes and 0 files. no media chunks anywhere on disk, including temp locations. the local recorder never created a single file while the UI told me, for the full session, that it was recording. the same bug also froze the stop button - i had to kill the session from somewhere else. then their own support engineer told me why, in writing: a known bug in that app version (1.30.0). known - while that version was still out there being used. they told me to avoid the desktop app entirely and record in the browser instead. read that again: riverside knew its app could tell you it's recording while recording nothing, and left it in users' hands. judging by other recent reviews here, i'm not the only one who found out the hard way. credit where it's due: frontline support was fast and human, the technical escalation was real, and they confirmed the root cause within a few days. that part was fine. then it went to billing, and it fell apart. my actual loss is re-producing the entire episode - studio, guest, crew, everyone's schedules - comfortably over a thousand pounds, against a hard deadline. i asked for a longer subscription credit as a compromise (real value to me, costs them very little, keeps me as a customer). final answer: a few months of credit, "the full extent of compensation we're able to offer." so where i land: a recording app's whole product is trust that the red light means something. riverside broke that, knew their app could break it, shipped it anyway, and valued the fallout at a few months of service. i can't recommend it, and i've switched my own sessions to the browser version on their own advice. whatever you record on - before your guest leaves the call, verify actual files with actual bytes exist for every track, yours included. the green light is not evidence.

I've use them for two years. Their tech is ok, but behind competitors. Slow to innovate. DO NOT get into anything longer than month-to-month. Everyone else is moving faster than they are. Customer service is sub-par. I recommend using other solution.

Amazing how something can be so close to being excellent in actuality turns out to be excruciating. Error after error after error and glitch after glitch. You then try and contact support and all you get is an email 3 days later saying they are working on it. Honestly, if there was an alternative I would switch.

I've been using Riverside for about 8 months. Everything was working great until February as I could record podcast episodes, but could not edit them like before. This has delayed my podcast going out for season two as there is now no way to edit my episodes due to their editing system no longer working. The worst part is that no one on their team could find solutions and they kept adding more and more people to the email thread which made the entire customer service experience chaotic. I asked for a refund several times for an entire month, and they did not agree to a refund until I had my male personal assistant reach out, and suddenly the refund could be provided. I'm very disappointed in the lack of solutions for the editing, their refusal to provide a refund until a man was involved, and the chaotic customer service experience.

Recording an important client webinar in advance of an event the following week and the main speakers full section across 3 videos did not upload to the riverside platform. There was no link to help them finish uploading which is what I expected to receive from support when I reached out. Instead, nothing. Three different people across 3 different days kept repeating 'rest assured we are investigating...'. It has been 5 days so far. They couldn't give me a single hint as to whether it was possible to get this footage back. They couldn't give me a timeline. Absolutely nothing, just a very scripted answer. I had to ask 3 times what the complaints procedure was and they kept skirting around that also.

Fine software. But allways has bugs, problems, sudden video dissapearing, and lots of back and forth with support.

I'll keep it super super short, but despite all the good reviews, my experience has been terrible. I signed up and was excited to use Riverside, but holy moly. Today is day 11 after I first wrote their support. Every email takes at least two days to get a response. Whenever you do, it's either boilerplate "we're looking into this", or blaming it on your setup. Specific issue: screen recordings are incredibly low quality, despite 5K display, and camera being 4K and sharp. I've given them plenty of examples, full access to my account, offered to talk directly to their support to let them debug on my system. They've done nothing, zero. Clearly not interested in fixing this bug. Instead, they blamed it on my internet connection. Unfortunately for them, I have a very fast fiber connection at home, with no issues. Not only that, but I've also tested it outside, while traveling (in different WiFi's) and over my mobile hotspot to rule all this out. Long story short: technical completely incompetent, support is painfully slow, no real solutions offered. Real bummer as the user experience overall seems very nice. I intended to use them for YouTube, podcasts, and webinars. But now I have to look elsewhere. Background context: I have a strong technical background, leaving this review only to incentivize them to do better in the future.
