The research so far is going great. Mentor is greatly helping me go in the right direction. However, writing coach and review meeting person is repeatedly late to meetings. Overall, the mentor and coach still help me advance, and this process of research is much easier than if I tried to do it myself.

Great Value
It was truly a great experience. I learned a lot during these past couple of weeks. I enjoyed my experience and how it was not as expensive as the other programs are!

Although some parts of the program and communication could be tidier, it is a worthwhile investment to apply and write a meaningful essay about a topic you personally enjoy.

Research at RISE: My experience
So far, this experience has been great! It's a pretty time-consuming program, but its rigour is needed to produce a good paper. The mentor sessions are enjoyable and engaging, and the writing coach sessions really help create clarity about what my next steps are and help with the paper format.

My research experience
My research experience has been great so far. I’ve read papers to develop interests and an idea of what to research and have begun to draft my paper and process through genetics data. Working with my mentor has been a very insightful and straightforward with him providing me with solid steps and explanations to develop my ideas.

Great but misses better mentor selection and connection of students
RISE introduced me to the world of research. Though I had investigated some aspects of it by myself, being able to talk to a mentor, writing coach and program manager helped me to improve every skill i thought I had already mastered. I absolutely recommend this program to curious adolescents who like to go to the next level. My experience hasn’t finished yet but i am loving every part of the process. However, like everything, it has some limitations. For instance, I live in Argentina while my mentors are in India, and we find it incredibly hard to find time slots that fit us both. I usually wake up extremely early or stay up really late for sessions which is so annoying for the amount of money I paid. Sometimes, my mentors dont respond to my messages for longer time that I would prefer, but my program manager always takes care of that. Additionally, I personally believe that it being such a huge network of kids who are part of the program, we could create a chat or something of the sort where we could send our google forms so that we all reach the minimum of responses. Being that we all are profoundly curious kids and that we also need help, I think it would benefit us all — especially myself that I am having a hard time reaching the minimum of participants. Lastly, I would recommend selecting mentors that have similar time zones of the child that is going to experience this program.

Flexibility
Flexibility:
The mentors are really flexible with what you want to do depending on your major. Both the writing and regular mentors are also flexible with times, in which you don’t have to meet with them consistently per week. They allow the project to be up to you and they don’t completely control it.

Great program
The program was well-structured and the mentors an writing coach were invaluable resources when it came to actually writing the paper.
