Ever since you updated the new app I have several issues of the app crashing or not logging into one or more of my systems.

I didn’t want a new camera system. The Q-see system I installed 5 years ago had been just fine…until their latest firmware update bricked the motherboard. At a minimum of $175 plus shipping both ways, the old DVR just wasn’t worth fixing. Even so, with 30+ years in law enforcement I know firsthand the value of a good camera system. I knew I had to replace it with something. I am not able to re-wire some of my cameras so a new IP system was out; I had to stick with HD-over-coax and BNC connectors. My first choice was a sale item at BJ’s: a Night Owl 3MP system with 10 cameras. At $489, it wasn’t cheap and I felt it would be worth it. Boy, was I wrong. I couldn’t keep its display on my monitor and the images shown on the app were terrible. I called their helpline, which informed me I was #1 in queue. I waited. And waited. After 15 minutes I elected to use their callback option. I am still awaiting their call. Needless to say, I took back that system and started my search anew. I initially didn’t think I could afford a 5MP camera system, but found the Revo Aero. I was actually suspicious of the price, since this seemed to offer quite a bit of product at a surprisingly low price point. I decided to risk it and purchased directly from the company. During installation, I was pleasantly surprised by some things…and not so much with others. First, a general observation that may be important to some people. The Aero DVR is ≈two inches wider and ≈three inches deeper than most camera DVR’s, including my old Q-see. This is not necessarily bad, of course, but can present a challenge if you are replacing a smaller DVR from an older system and have limited room in your existing or proposed setup. The good: The number one good thing about this system is that it is backward compatible with all my old cameras. Even better, it AUTOMATICALLY adjusts itself based on those inputs. The importance of this feature cannot be overstated. Most of my cameras are the original 600TVL units from 5 years ago, but several were replaced when the older ones failed. Two of these newer cameras are 900TVL. A few others are 1000TVL. Of course I also installed these 5MP cameras. That’s four different styles of cameras from three different manufacturers. The Aero DVR automatically detected every one of them and adjusted itself for the best display from each. That is truly impressive. Also impressive was the ease with which the Aero DVR connected to my network. It was all automatic, with no input from me. Adjustment of each camera’s position is effortless. Once you mount the base wherever you want that camera, simply loosen a single screw on the base of the mount. This releases the internal locking mechanism and allows movement of the camera in all directions. When you are satisfied with the camera’s position, simply tighten that one screw to lock everything in place. So smart and so easy…gone are the days of having at least two independent adjustment points, the interlocking teeth of which had to incrementally click into place before tightening. Speaking of cameras, one of the oldest cameras I replaced faces down my driveway. I elected to just replace the camera itself and used the original wire already in place. What a difference! With the old system, I could clearly identify vehicles coming and going. With the new camera I can not only identify the vehicle, I can read the license plates. Yes, a 5MP camera is that good. Customer service is terrific. I used the website’s chat feature when I purchased. I asked a question which required a follow-up, and had a return email in minutes. For telephone tech support (I needed it…see the next paragraph) I was on hold for only a minute or two. When my call was picked up, it was by a real person who obviously knew this system inside and out. The bad: The Aero app is not available at all on my Amazon Fire HD tablet, even as a sideload. It runs fine on my Pixel 2 XL, and that is what I used to evaluate it here. The app is not as advanced as most others in this price range. Like all high-end DVR’s available today, the Aero DVR displays an individualized QR code during installation to download the app. Once installed, the new app self-populates with the model- and serial- numbers provided within the QR code. Unfortunately, even with this information you can’t directly log into the app. Rather, you need to scroll down to the “other ways to log in” button and wait for that new screen to load. It is only one additional step, but prevents the app from using its auto-log-in feature. It also takes additional time, which can be frustrating when there’s someone at the door or you’ve heard a noise and want to know who or what it is *right now*. I ran into a very similar issue with their windows-based computer program, Aero VMS. The previously mentioned call to customer service quickly resolved the Windows issue. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll need an update to the app for its issues. That’s certainly not a deal-breaker, though, because the app is solid after you figure out its idiosyncrasies. Conclusion: You can buy a better camera system, but it will be much more expensive than this one. You can spend a lot less, but that system will pale in comparison with this one. To me, this system represents that sweet spot between cost and features. As such, it is hard to beat. Update (before I even posted this): As I considered this review, I realized how enthused I was by this system. I didn’t think a review based upon only a day or two after the initial install was entirely appropriate for a product from a brand new (to me) company. Therefore, I decided to withhold it for a couple of weeks to see if this system continued to impress me. It has. In short: this system rocks. It has worked flawlessly, both at home on the network and away using cellular. If anything changes, I will update this review. In the meantime, If you need a new camera system you owe it to yourself to check this Revo Areo.

Reconciliation of previous issue was good. They could not find a solution to my cameras staying on IR even in bright light so they shipped out a newer HD system to replace it. After having new wiring ran by an installer who exclusively sells/installs REVO systems the new system is working great. Thanks for standing behind your product.
