I don't even know how to summarize my incredible experience with the Remote Year team. It is the coolest, most creative, easiest and safest way to travel. I did the 4 month program in Europe and Africa Aug 2021 - Dec 2021. Our program leader, Joanna, was truly so organized, kind and thoughtful about every single thing that she did. Having city managers in each location (meaning someone who lives locally in each city you travel to) was an amazing way to immerse ourselves authentically and safely into each new cultural experience. The events that were curated were all fun, engaging and unique. What is especially awesome is that even though you are on a program with fellow travelers, you are still treated like an adult. Don't feel like hiking on Tuesday morning? Then don't! Want to plan your own side-trip with friends or for solo travel? Go for it! No one is stopping you from curating your own experience - they are only there to guide you when you want/need. Last but certainly not least is the RY community. The people you meet during your travels will be unlike anyone you've ever encountered before. They are kind, resourceful, daring, respectful, adventurous and jut plain fun. And being a part of the Slack channels and obtaining citizenship (which is a privilege you get after 4 months of traveling with Remote Year) is a gift that keeps on giving!! I would recommend this organization 10000 times over. In fact, I am currently on another one-month program with them right now! Only took me 3 months to hop right back into it :) Thanks for an unforgettable experience RY!

Wow, where to even begin. I joined a Remote Year program in August of 2021 that allowed me to meet some of the best people on the planet and also travel extensively through Europe and Africa. RY fit my needs perfectly. I love travel but I hate logistics and I really wanted something that was just simply easy, easy, easy. RY does "easy" so well. You're set up with accommodations and a workspace at all of your destinations and, on top of that, you have a program leader who is with you through your whole journey to help with any hiccups (shout out to Joanna who is BY FAR the best PL in the game), city managers in every city that help navigate language, culture, and everything else you can think of, curated, local experiences, and a large community of instant travel and adventure friends. Their model was a no-brainer for me and I'm so glad I did it. I will admit that I don't have anything to compare RY too as this was my first foray into work and travel, but I can say that we met a lot of other digital nomads on our adventures that were using different programs, and every time, our group said, "Wow, we're so glad we're with RY." Are there some things RY can improve upon? Of course, but overall it's a fantastic company that listens to feedback and ultimately enabled a life-altering experience for me - and for that I'm deeply thankful!

I participated in a 4-month program through Latin America from Nov-Feb covering Antigua, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. What I liked? Its pricy for sure but you truly get a ton of support. The staff at remote year are incredible and will go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable while you are traveling through these countries. Each group gets a program leader and each city has a city manager along with other staff that drops in to have fun with you from time to time. The staff is really one of the greatest parts of remote year. Special shoutout to Sharon, Gert, Fran, and Omar. Accommodations I would say are just okay for the most part, they get you to where you want to be and they have wifi are pretty comfy and always safe. Although my accommodations in Guatemala were AMAZING (shoutout to Josh). Experiences were also a highlight, most of the (what they call) core experiences were incredible and you can generally find activities outside of remote year as well through either the city manager or the community. What I didn't like? As an introvert, the amount of time with other people is shocking when you first land and it doesn't let up for 4 months. This isnt a bad thing but my goal was to live somewhere with some support and some friends. Remote Year is not that, you are on a tour and it is paced like one. This can be good or bad but just was not what I was expecting when I signed up. If you are a digital nomad looking to do this long-term this type of travel is not sustainable, at least for me. Community: I loved my group but having met a few of the other ones each has their own flavor and quirks. So just be aware you are rolling the dice between the 18 relatively chill people I had or 50 people that like to party. Once you are done with your 4 months you become a citizen (1 month programs dont get this). There are lots of perks for this but reading other reviews it does get a little cliquey but I have yet to meet an unfriendly person through remote year so I wouldnt worry about it. All in all a great experience. If you have the privilege to participate and want some friends to travel with do RY.

In 2021 I completed a four-month program with Remote Year to Europe and Africa. Simply put, it was the most amazing four months of my life. I heard of RY through a friend and it took about 30 seconds to decide it was exactly what I was looking for. At every point of the process RY answered my many questions. I'm an older traveler, 62, and was very concerned that I might not fit in. Luckily, my wife and I traveled together. So we figured we would share the experience together. But not only did we fit in, we met a group of like-minded adventurers from 23 to 69 who will be friends for life! I loved the structure RY supplies. We had a incredibly wonderful program leader that travelled with us the entire trip. Each city had local city managers that helped us with logistics and cool places to go. Of course, over four months, there were glitches but RY helped deal with all the little things that came up. I recommend RY whole heartedly! Adventure is only one bold 'yes' away ...

Remote Year is a life changing experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see the world, to challenge themselves, possibly even find fulfillment. The best part about Remote Year is the programming and staff they have in place to make it as safe experience as possible. Can't recommend it enough!

Remote Year has been one of the best investments I’ve committed to this past year and I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for an opportunity to see the world and experience life for all that it has to offer. The genuine connections I’ve made with the RY participants, community leaders and program managers, has been life-changing, as I now feel like I am apart of something bigger, a group of like-minded individuals who not only represent their diverse regions of where they come from, but a broader family of open-minded and curious “citizens of the world.” The memories I’ve made are priceless and I can honestly say that many of the curated experiences that I’ve partaken in, have been some of the best tour opportunities I’ve had as a traveler. As a solo, single woman, Remote Year has given me the confidence to feel safe and comfortable with exploring new cities/countries, I wouldn’t have dared to travel to on my own and has broadened my perspective, giving me a true appreciation for the cultures and people of those places I’ve visited. Thanks to Remote Year - I now value “living” so much more!

RY is a company that I have been following for years and in some ways, thanks to COVID, was a dream I was finally able to do in 2021, as my job was still remote. I joined a 4 month Europe/Africa program in August of 2021 - traveling to Lisbon, Valencia, Split and Cape Town and it was truly a magical and life changing experience. First - there is the community and bonds you will form - I know I made friendships that will last a lifetime from this program, with like-minded, down to explore, spontaneous and amazing people from all over the world. Outside of even just your immediate group, the broader RY community is now your family forever - with access to Slack, ability to ask questions about any city in the world, and meet up with fellow RY people everywhere you go - it is unbeatable. Second - the staff, these people are not only your friends but are there to make sure you are safe, happy and most of all having the time of your life. They perfectly plan out every detail of logistics, offer amazing excursions and are there to answer questions any time of day. Having both a program leader who travels with you as well as local city managers is a true differentiator versus other similar services and helps provide much more of a local experience in each city. While they are there for the great times, they are also immediately available and there during the not so great times as well - handling situations like getting locked out of your home at 2 am or the inevitable catching of COVID, with true professionalism and quick responses. Of course - there is also the locations: Everywhere we went was an amazing experience and had different cultures to explore. RY offers tons of local experiences everywhere you go, allowing you to do as many or as little as you like, and providing the perfect balance of exploring, while also of course, working remotely. Traveling with RY convinced me to quit my corporate job, take on a remote job and continue the nomad lifestyle, which I will continue to do with them as much as I can. This will hands down be the best experience of your life. Take the risk, put down the deposit and say YES - I mean, if not now, when?

I'm jumpin n here to provide a huge thumbs up to the entire Remote Year (RY) team.  I'm currently on my 3rd RY program, just finished another ahhmazin weekend experience and it popped up asking if I'd like to give my comments or thoughts on this platform.  I thought why not! I've bounced around da world entering / leaving 10+ countries w/these RY peeps and can't say enough bout how they run their biz!  They take care of everything I hate doing, they vet their tours / guides, select the coolest options (in each country), handle my travel plans (while providing transition options), book my accommodations, provide me a CoWorking space, etc, etc.  All tasks I procrastinate doin when they're on my to-do list.  Lol My 3 program leaders (Juli, Elena and Alejandra) have all been absolutely ahhmazin.  I really need to replicate RY's hiring process and selection criteria within my construction industry.  They're experienced travelers who care, help the group (when needed), suggest, guide, etc beyond anything I've experienced previously.  Considering I've been a Digital Nomad since 2005 I truly respect how they protect each group and resolve issues immediately (if / when encountered) which is important for solo travelers. I can say I've enjoyed my experiences so much that there's a good chance I'll be signing up for another 12 month program before my current program finishes! Keep rockin it Remote Year!
