Spent a month in Lisbon with Remote Year and it was an unforgettable experience! I was originally looking to make the trip on my own but the Remote Year program provided the community and connections that I would not have made by myself. The community managers are incredibly helpful and supportive providing an orientation of Lisbon on the first day and local insight I would not have found online. They even celebrated our birthdays and made us feel so welcome. Lisbon is a beautiful city, friendly people, super accessible, great food and the language barrier is not an issue. There is so much to see and do honestly one month just isn't enough. The co-work space is the best in the city with rooftop views and in an excellent neighborhood. The apartment was really comfortable, a luxury experience with AC in every room, modern decor and only a short uber ride to anywhere in the city. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to build community with like-minded travelers and connect with expats in Lisbon.

Medellin for the second time I just spent a second month in Medellin, Columbia for the second time on my remote journey with Remote Year around the world. The experience was just fantastic. Maria and Catalina as city managers were just amazing and they made the experience so much more meaningful because they brought their beautiful energy to every activity. I had done many of the experiences last year, but this year I did a lot more “informal“ things with them and other people, and got to see a little bit more of real life. I realized that the people are so warm and the city is really trying to make us feel welcome with safety and providing security. I have to give the city a lot of credit for how much it has transformed itself over the recent past. I would say this was an extremely positive experience, and a great Remote Year destination. Maria and Catalina are so wonderful. If you go, make time to go to coffee with them and get to know them. I would say they were a big part of how successful the experience was.

Remote Year provides a great way to experience Lisbon; with so many great recommendations from Viviana and Pedro that a month just isn’t enough to cover it all. Being with a group of people who also love to travel, and explore means there is always something on the go or someone too meet up with if you feel like taking a break from work. A very cool Co-Working space with a roof top terrace central to all the apartments, although I personally didn’t use it much because of how AMAZING the apartment was! I couldn’t have asked for better! Lisbon is such an amazing city with such a vibey atmosphere, tons of rooftop bars, view points, outdoor restaurants, beach parties, beautiful sunsets and the nightlife is amazing. It is incredibly safe to walk around day and night. Lots of expats from all over the world, and all the locals we met were such lovely people. I would have loved more time in Lisbon, and will definitely be back.

Lovely city and lovely city team

I’ve done Remote Year programs in both Medellin and Lisbon and have loved them both. I’ve done a Hacker Paradise program in Buenos Aires as well. RY is a little more expensive but RY sets itself apart with teams of local staff and experiences to book. Having the local staff is such a plus to me. I’ve appreciated how they share their cultures, languages, sight seeing tips, etc. with us. I’ve been impressed with housing in both places—Lisbon was especially fancy! The people who participate in these trips are usually so lovely as well. I enjoyed spending so much time with my friends on my trips and also learning from them. Fun experiences I booked via RY include: guatape, coffee farm tour, and big walking tour in Medellin and azulejo tile painting and pastel de nata cooking class in Lisbon. Both had really nice coworking spaces as well with housing fairly nearby. I have really enjoyed both of these trips and hope to do more in the future.

Team was great! City was awesome. Apartment was decent. Food was worthy. Events were epic. Thanks to everyone involved!

My recent wonderful experiences with the Remote Year program in Valencia were largely due to our wonderful hosts Marina and Julio. They were incredibly warm and inviting and truly wanted all of to have a first class experience in Valencia. The RY program has done a good job of choosing a great location in Valencia (Ruzafa) and comfortable accommodations. 5 stars no doubt. Put this trip on your list!
