Order some boots online that were out of stock at my local REI. The tracking info said they would be delivered in time for my honeymoon, but when my package came with all my other winter gear the boots were not there. I immediately went into my email to check & it said they were processing! Ah! (Honeymoon less than a week away) I called customer service & got transferred to JoAnne. She located my order & said that my boots were coming from a store rather than the warehouse & they ran out of the boots. She then took my phone # & said she would check into it for me, 10 minutes later she called me back saying that she canceled my previous order & reordered my boots...not only that but she put a rush order on my boots (FREE of charge!!!) in order to get them in time for my honeymoon! She offically made my day & I couldn't thank her enough for her amazing customer service & taking such GREAT care of me! YOU ROCK JOANNE!!! Thanks again! =)

I had ordered a jacket for hiking but when I received the package it had been opened by someone and taped back up. When I opened the package there was no jacket to be found just a ton of crinkled up and opened mail inside. I was furious that this happened so I called the non emergency number and also contacted REI about it. Luckily I was able to get another jacket mailed to me (but this time I'll be picking it up at the post office). I am beyond happy and thankful that they were nice enough to mail me another one. I most definitely will be shopping here again and highly recommend shopping at REI. Thank you so much for making my night better!

While paying for some winter gear for my daughter, the employee asked if we'd like to get an REI membership. I politely declined (given that we rarely shop there) and was confronted with the mosy bizarre and aggressive response. He mocked our decline of his offer and was relentless with commenting on the stupidity of not joining. My husband and I were speechless. Then he started to talk to his comrade behind the counter about "this family who doesn't want to teach their daughter about smart memberships, etc. After tolerating his abuse throughout the entire transaction, my husband finally had enough. He has never confronted an employee or been in a position to defend himself at a RETAIL establishment! I don't know if this guy was just having a bad day or if they train their employees to bully and shame customers into memberships, but I will NEVER go back. I do not ever take the time to review places, but this experience was really unacceptable. The REI at the Village in Woodland Hills should be avoided.

A simple order on their web site turns into a mess... multiple, random credit card charges in excess of order total amount for no apparent reason, their "live help" chat is useless (they're not interested in helping, preferring to guess at answers to my questions rather than actually answering). Something is terribly wrong with REI... it used to be great.

REI please get better software for your website it is frustratingly slow. it did not filter by price properly either. I am only shopping on it because someone gave me a gift card. OMG I can't believe I just wasted so much time it is absolutely NOT worth any money saved on brand names

Every time I visit an REI store I feel welcome and surrounded by knowledgeable staff. No it's not the cheapest store with racks full of clearance items, but the quality of products is top notch. The staff has helped me with finding the right hiking and bike gear for years. Love REI!

After I bought a sleeping bag from REI, I found that I can get the similar product at much cheaper price at another store. REI's return service is good, although the sleeping bag is somehow overvalued to me.

REI has the best customer service of any store I've every shopped. High quality items, good value, friendly and knowledgeable staff and an excellent return policy.
