I joined the REI co-op in the past year and have purchased several items from them with no complaints. I love getting the emails with their "garage sales" and have found some great deals on them. I stopped short of a 5 star rating only because I have not been a customer long enough. I also think they truely care about their customers, the environment and living a active outdoor lifestyle. While I have not yet had a chance to take any of their offered classes, I love the concept and have heard positive things from people who have taken them.

REI is a fantastic company that deeply cares not only about the customers, but also about the environment and their role as stewards. I have gear from REI that has lasted years!

Wow I can't believe all the negative reviews. I ordered a pair of Saloman Sonic RA running shoes on Fri and they were at my door Monday morning. I'm glad I did not read all these reviews prior to ordering or I might have changed my mind. My brother buys from REI and has always been satisfied so that's why I chose REI

REI makes it impossible to shop online. Their website keeps showing errors like it has been hacked. When you contact their customer service line they tell you it's your fault. Do they want people to spend their money or not? This is not the action of a company that cares about its customer OR about staying in business.

I ordered an item online, but I had also recently moved. So I changed my address in the system. When the item shipped, it went to the old address. This could have been REI’s error, or it could have been mine for not making sure the address was correctly updated before hitting the “ship” button. When I called REI I was connected to an actual agent very quickly. The agent was very understanding and nice and approved a new item to be shipped to me no charge as a courtesy since it was challenging to know who was really at fault. In the modern world of automated service and dwindling customer service, the service,loyalty, and quality model at REI is refreshing. If you want low price with low quality and automated service with little understanding when “stuff happens” then shop somewhere else. If you want a brand that backs up their products and service model the go to REI.....the sometimes higher price is worth the headache saved and quality guarantee. Plus the people in the stores actually use the stuff and are passionate about outdoor lifestyles.

If they had a 0 star, I would have put that. I was at the Tukwila store and was inquiring about backpacks. Colton was the person helping me. He stopped in the middle of helping me and started helping a guy who wasnt even asking for help. Because of my experience, I will never go to REI again.

Been an REI menber since the early 80s. Gone down hill a lot since then. Today I returned a hat I was given for Christmas by my mother-in-law. She bought it at the local REI store when visiting over Christmas. I prefer my wifes knitted hat so I returned the gift with the tags still attached. The price on the tag was 36$, but the store would only give sale price or 25$ and that as in store credit, and even that took almost 30 minutes and required a managers approval. I've been a member for over 30 yrs, but after I spend my store credit I'll be done with REI.

I ordered a Patagonia for my child. 15 days later they dropped the price by $40.00. They would not offer me a price drop. I checked other sites and could get the jacket at a lower price. I will be returning this jacket and ordering from another site. I am very disappointed in the customer service. I have ordered from REI multiple times and am super disappointed by this.
