Dr. Paul lieber in Pittsburgh has helped tremendously with my back pain. I have been a difficult patient with multiple pathologies making it difficult to pinpoint the primary pain producer, not uncommon in spine pain. I could not stand for more than 10 minutes and suffered with spasms that were debilitating. I had extensive prp prolotherapy for my ligaments and stem cell treatment in my facets, three levels, bilateral. I teach dancing and have been able to resume working. I will always have a touchy back but my function is tremendously improved. It takes months and the improvements are gradual but one day I realized I didn't have to sit down or lie flat but could keep working. Not a quick fix.

Don't waste your time or money!
My doctor and the MRI show I have a full-thickness rotator cuff tear of both the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons. Also a full thickness tear of the distal subscapularis, and a dislocated biceps tendon. I contacted Regenexx in Dallas (DR. Movva's Office) as an alternative to surgery. The girl in the office has to be the dumbest person in the world. All she was interested in was talking about price of the precedure. She has no business working in this capacity for a doctors office. I tried askinjg her serious questions, and she could not answer not one of them. After conducting a search of the reviews, I can see why this is nothing but a scam to get your money with no results. Don't waste your time with this crap.

A Leap of Faith
I had stem cells injected in Dallas, TX in both mid-feet (October 2018) and PRPs one month later (December 2018). My feet were shot from years of ballet, running, walking, dancing, figure skating, etc. There isn't alot on the internet about this problem so for me it was a leap of faith. I got opinions from a rheumatologist, podiatrist, orthopedic surgeon, and also had acupuncture. I had bad arthritis and joint degeneration, and my mid feet were all swollen. The only treatments were anti inflammatory pills and cream, and cortisone injections in the joint. There is a horrible surgery that fuses your entire mid foot together with screws which makes me shudder when I look at the photos of the procedure on the internet. I am only 62 and enjoy an active life and I was not ready to be immobilized and taking meds for the rest of my life. I can honestly say that 6 months post procedure my feet have improved 80%. They are not 22 year old ballet feet but I can walk in regular shoes without constant pain. You should follow the protocol closely, take the vitamins/herbs/supplements they recommend, no smoking or hard liquor, exercise, etc. I haven't taken any meds except tylenol and the vitamins/supplements that are recommended. Also, i got NO information or encouragement about stem cells from the orthopedist, podiatrist, or rheumatologist. SO MUCH for putting the patient's needs first! I think the other doctors don't want to encourage you to try stem cells because they want to make the $$ and keep you coming back. Also, other be prepared for other people to be resistant because they won't spend the money. They would prefer to be in pain or have surgery because the insurance company will pay for some of it. I am glad to have my OWN feet working again and no surgery or metal in my body. I will do it again as other parts of my body wear out. The office in Dallas is located in a beautiful building but you have to walk down three long halls to get to it. I could hardly walk to the car after both procedures and was in serious pain. They should have an employee with a wheelchair available to wheel you to the garage door so you can climb into your car with a minimum of pain and movement. This is why I did not give them 5 stars.

Disappointed
I have a full thickness tear of my rotator cuff, torn biceps and stage 4 arthritis (50% cartilage loss) I was told that I would need a shoulder replacement at some point. I'm a very active person and I played Pickleball two to three times a week. I would normally take an NSAID prior to playing and afterward use ice to reduce the inflammation. The clicking, grinding and pain was manageable for the most part but sometimes the pain would become worse and then I would have to stop activities for a few days or weeks before I could play again. My main concern was that taking the NSAIDS was taking a toll on my heart since I had read that there is an increased risk of heart disease when using them.
I knew a couple people that had stem cell treatments and one said that it helped and the other said that it did not. I thought that I would go to see a Regenexx doctor to see what he thought. I gave him all of my background medical records and told him my concerns and that I would like to be able to continues with my activities in the future. He sent me for a more recent MRI and confirmed what I already knew and he rated me as a fair-poor candidate for Regenexx. I assumed from that rating I he would tell me that there wasn't much chance for the procedure helping me, but instead he said that he thought that he could help me and in his words keep me off the surgeons table.
So, on May, 2018 I started with the PRP, then had the stem cell procedure followed by the platelet injections. Shortly afterward I started the PT which lasted 12 sessions. The therapist that I had said that he had not seen anyone who had any type of long term success with Regenexx and told me that eventually they all ended up having replacements. I started to feel a little stronger for a couple of weeks after the PT, but still had pain with increasing activity. During all this time I had not been taking any NSAIDS at all. After 6 months I was cleared to start Pickleball again. I started out slowly and was able to play without the NSAIDS, but had moderate pain. Right before my 9 month appointment I had not felt much improvement, but then one day I felt that I was able to play with very mild pain. I told the doctor this at my appointment and he said that was what he expected. I told him that I was still concerned about the clicking and grinding in my shoulder and the damage that might be doing. He told me not to worry about it because it should go away with a little more aggressive PT that he prescribed. I started the PT with a therapist the doctor recommended and after 4-5 sessions my pain level began to increase, and the therapist had me modify some of the exercises or skip some of them. As the sessions went on the clicking and grinding increased as well as the pain. After 12 sessions the therapist gave me some exercises to continue with on my own. He then told me that I should try to avoid movements that give me pain or cause any grinding or clicking. I told him that just about every exercise he had given me to do caused clicking or grinding. He said that's not good.
I continued with the the exercises the best that I could up until about 6 weeks ago when I got a bad virus that prevented me from doing anything. After I recovered from the virus my shoulder felt pretty good even though I still had the grinding and clicking with movement. I tried to get back to the therapy and all the pain started up again so I just stopped doing it.
At this time I would say that my shoulder is worse that before the Regenexx procedures. I have almost continuous grinding and clicking in my shoulder with any movement and increased pain and numbness and tingling in my arm with increased activity. I haven't played Pickleball for six weeks and probably will never play again.
At my 9 month visit the Regenexx staff told me that they would call me when my 1 year follow up was due. Well that hasn't happened yet and I doubt that they will call.
Needless to say, I am disappointed with Regenexx and with the doctor. I don't understand why he sent me for more aggressive PT which only made things worse for me. I really don't think that the procedures did anything for me and the only improvement that I got was due to the initial PT sessions. I put a lot of effort and paid with a lot of pain and money and I feel worse now than I did a year ago.
In hindsight I should have taken his written evaluation of fair-poor candidate at face value and not fallen for his false hope. My parents often told me that if it isn't in writing then don't believe it. I feel incredibly foolish for not heeding that advice.

I would give zero stars if I could.
First of all I want to state that this is my opinion. How do you know it was the stem cells and that you didn't just heal on your own? Placebo effect? I spent 7K in 2013 what a scam. They could see from my MRI that my hip needed surgery. Yet they took my money and ran like hell. CC gave me lip service and never called me back. There was absolutely no follow up. I st around for a whole year waiting to heal. The only hope I have now is that someday in the future there will be a class action lawsuit against R that I can be a part of. This stem cell thing is a theory, nothing more. R is making fools and a fortune on the weak, poor, and injured. All the while running down modern medicine. When the hype is over and the pain returns what will you do? Dish out more money because you need another treatment? Snake oil. On top of that CC trolls around on the internet removing reviews like mine. He does not want the truth to be told and he will do everything in his power to stop it. Open your eyes and close your wallet.

Oreme Belgium
So there has been enough time now since my knee treatment at Oreme Clinic in Belgium which works under Regenexx franchise. I had big doubts if stem cell treatment might be suitable for me but the doctor was very convincing. I decided to try but unfortunately no relief. Big amount of money, time and effort lost. I had to just stick with my exercise program.
