I ran into a problem with a reservation that I thought I had previously booked on line with Allegiant Air. I have yet to be able to retrace my steps but somehow I got connected with a customer service agent identifying themselves as "Allegiant". This person was able to see my history of the previous attempted booking with only caller ID and no need of the six character itinerary ID. I should have been suspicious at that point. The agent offered to "assist" me with my dilemna by booking the trip for an additional fee. As it had been six weeks since my first attempt, I accepted the $228 upcharge as the penalty for my delay. The agent further told me that there were only 5 seats left and that I should book with her immediately to avoid losing the two seats. The agent called me thirty minutes later to tell me that my card had been declined for the $470 ticket fee. I learned later from my bank that the $228 fee had been flagged as a possible fraudulent scheme. Through a subsequent email I learned that the agent was using a Red Umbrella Holidays email address. Subsequent calls to the same person yielded no response other than it was impossible for her to cancel the reservation. I spoke with three representatives from Red Umbrella. Each told me "not to worry". None had a reasonable solution. I am still leary of how this company embedded its contact information in a Google search for Allegiant Air. Beware!! Follow up Nov 14 On Nov 8 I received a notice from my credit card company stating that I had received a credit for $470. I contacted Allegiant directly and learned that the reservation still appeared in their system but that the tickets were not paid for. This effectively canceled the reservation. I had been promised a return call from a supervisor at Red Umbrella but received no such call. I was able to rebook the tickets through an Allegiant agent thankfully but had to use a third credit card and the two previous cards were declined. The Allegiant agent said that the two previous cards were flagged in their system for multiple attempts to book the and tickets. It appears that the $228 fee that Red Umbrella charged to my debit card has yet to be credited. This was in addition to the $470 ticket fee (on a separate card). I no longer require the "services" of Red Umbrella (unless they decide to refund the $228). My tickets are booked through Allegiant. The original booking # through Red Umbrella was E3TPUS. This reservation number is no longer relevant as the tickets have been rebooked.
