I appreciate the idea and opportunity to present questions to the doctors, but I don’t like how many of the reviews are from many years ago. I don’t like to search a practice and find out they’re not prevalent on this one so they recommend someone else. I did see at least 2 practices from this app but I would prefer the ability to edit my question or add more information

I was put at easy felt confidence at what I had to say no judgment. I am still looking for a Dr closer to home. Seam impossible at this point but hopefully that a Dr will see me

Love This site! So helpful in understanding what you are in for and making a decision. Hard to type from a phone or tablet though. The keyboard is slow and have to retype most words or they dont make sense.

Be wary! This site is not trust worthy! I have tried to publish an honest review of my rhinoplasty operation 3 times along with my pictures of before and after but none of my reviews were published. Meanwhile they publish other reviews that do not look very genuine. I think this website is more an advertisement platform than a real forum. Edit after reply from Realself.com: Your claims that I am a practice employee is unfounded and false. I am ready to share my id, payslip and a letter of employment to prove I am working as an Engineer if you are serious and will publish my reviews. Last edit: After e-mailing the website, they have published my review.

Navigation and user interface are clunky and difficult, but the site is super useful and has a good user base. One example of the user interface problem is the inability to edit reviews once posted, so you cannot cleanly correct typos, misinformation, etc. The whole review remains sloppy forever... An area for improvement would be to encourage user follow through and follow up on long term treatment reviews...for example, tattoo removal can take years, and I found only reviews for the first few treatments, people seem to stop posting after that. So, users are left without knowing if the end result is worth it.

Recently, I joined Realself in order to not only ask questions, but in order to research options that I may have regarding non surgical alternatives. I asked a question and received feedback from 12 physicians, thus far. Three of those physicians stood out, and none of them are in my location. However, those within a driveable range, were those who neglected to answer my specific question, and they also stated that I didn't specify my health issues. I purposefully did not specify my health issues, because this is a public forum, and much like HIPAA, some things should remain private, and not be required in order for a question to be answered. Based upon the feedback I received, I would travel out of my area for quality care, rather than to have a consult with any of the physicians that are closer. It's not about vanity for me, it's about confidence and recreating myself after many years of abuse, as well as health issues that left me bedridden for extended periods of time. I flew out of my area, in order to have mercury amalgam fillings removed safely from my teeth, and that is what has given me a new beginning. Distance isn't an issue when it comes to quality of life and health. I feel that some people/patients have better luck in certain areas of the earth, where others may have less optimal results. That can be looked at astrologically by some groups and individuals, or culturally by others. I am impressed with physicians that do not seem condescending, but are more geared toward patient education and empowerment. Liz Hernandez
