We're sorry to hear about your experience, but it appears that your review may have been posted on the wrong page. RealSelf.com is an online resource that helps people research cosmetic treatments and connect with healthcare providers. We're not affiliated with individual doctors and don't have control over the care they provide.
We encourage you to move your review to the profile of the doctor or practice you intended to review. This will help ensure your feedback reaches the right audience and is most useful to people researching that provider.

My negative review of the plastic…
My negative review of the plastic surgeon has been removed. I wonder why. I thought the whole idea of this site is to help people. Instead you are exposing them to harm, even knowing about it.
Please explain.

Stop posting good reviews immediately…
Stop posting good reviews immediately after a bad one just to bury it

Hi,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Reviews are posted as they come in, so sometimes a positive review will be posted after a negative one, and vice versa. We aim to reflect everyone’s experience, and that means all reviews - positive and negative - get published in the order they’re received.
Please let us know if we can help answer any other questions by emailing [email protected].

Trusted RealSelf’s “Top Doctor” Badges and Was Permanently Harmed
I relied on RealSelf’s “Verified” and “Top Doctor” badges, believing they represented safety and legitimacy. What happened to me was devastating and traumatic. I would not wish this experience on anyone. It goes far beyond cosmetic dissatisfaction. The physical and emotional impact has been life changing and permanent.
The doctor I found through RealSelf upsold me a package, skipped major parts of my surgery, and used unauthorized techniques that left me disfigured and with nerve damage. I now need expensive and complex revision surgeries for procedures I never wanted but was pressured into, including work that was originally promised and paid for but not performed.
Before this, I was healthy physically and emotionally. My doctor falsified credentials, skills and experience but appeared on RealSelf as a verified provider. I later learned this badge is paid advertising, not proof of safety or qualifications. My doctor should never have been listed here.
After I shared my story, my original one star review became visible only on my profile but was hidden from the doctor’s page, while clusters of nearly identical five star reviews remained. I did not violate any terms or request removal. My review was written to protect others from being harmed the way I was.
I am now under the care of multiple specialists and can no longer compete in the sports I love. Trusting RealSelf and one of their “top doctors” has been the biggest regret of my life. It has had devastating consequences for my health, confidence, and livelihood. In my experience, RealSelf’s platform made it difficult to identify safe and qualified providers. The way it operates feels misleading and unsafe.
My private medical photos were posted publicly without consent. I have also seen what appear to be other unauthorized patient images on the site. False or misleading advertising in plastic surgery puts lives and well-being at risk.
I have connected with other users who experienced similar harm. RealSelf must prioritize consumer safety over profit.
I am posting this review to share my genuine experience and to warn others. I am a real customer and a verified patient.
Update: I have rewritten this review because earlier versions were flagged and removed. Both on RealSelf and now on other review platforms, my honest experiences continue to disappear, while advertising content remains. I have kept this version as neutral and factual as possible, yet every statement here is true. If it is removed again, I will continue finding appropriate public channels to share my experience so others can make informed decisions about their health and safety.

Thank you for sharing your feedback - we really appreciate it. We weren’t able to identify your account from the limited information provided by Trustpilot, which makes it hard to address your concerns. Please email us at [email protected] so we can help.
Here is a link to our doctor listing criteria: https://www.realself.com/company/standards
Verified status is earned, not paid for. Doctors must meet strict criteria, including holding a valid medical license (checked every 3 months) and being board certified. While surgical outcomes can never be guaranteed, Verified status reflects transparency and patient safety.
In addition, all reviews, positive and negative, appear on a doctor’s profile. You may need to adjust the sorting options to see reviews that interest you, and our support team is happy to help if needed.
We’d love the chance to address your other concerns - please reach out so we can assist.

Customer made up lies about me on RealSelf
I used to run a successful beauty business then a completely insane former customer put an entirely fictitious false review online on RealSelf. I sent so many emails begging them to remove it and they refused.
I considered suing as I made £20000 a month and overnight I lost all my income but I live in the UK.
The review was entitled ‘she scarred my face’ but with my name in the title. About 3 months later I closed my business down completely because of this false review they refused to take down. They are actually guilty of libel.
It shouldn’t be allowed for a customer to trash a technician especially with zero evidence. I have never scarred anyone’s face! I think RealSelf is dishonest, amoral and should be banned.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you had a poor experience with a patient.
RealSelf is a platform where consumers share their personal perspectives on providers and treatments. Each review reflects the reviewer’s own experience, and reviewers own the content they post. To ensure fairness and avoid bias, we do not remove reviews simply because they are negative or because there is a disagreement with the patient. Reviews are only removed if they violate our Terms of Service.
We were unable to locate a review titled "scarred my face" or an account matching the information you provided to Trustpilot. Please email our support team at [email protected] so we can better understand your concerns.

Will not let you unsubscribe!
After doing one review, I received numerous unsolicited emails. Each time, I Unsubscribed, yet continued receiving many emails from them each week.
I've now had to filter their still-ongoing emails, sending them all into the Trash, where they belong.

Not a trustworthy site
Avoid signing up for marketing with this company. Not only is it expensive but it does little to enhance your business except drain your wallet. Worse yet, if you discontinue their service, they are completely unhelpful at removing malicious, false reviews. You cannot even respond to the review unless you restart a profile with them!! Patients should not trust a site where false reviews are allowed and doctors shouldn’t either as money is more important than reputation to this company. So, as you can see from their response, they leave completely false reviews on their site so anyone can say anything about a doctor to destroy their reputation with impunity. Other sites have removed the malicious review but RealSelf offered assistance by having an account manager contact me by email in order to sign back up.

Hello Dr. DuPont - Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear you're disappointed. To protect your privacy, we won’t discuss account specifics publicly. Please reach out to our support team at [email protected] so we can review key metrics like impressions, CTR, and conversions together.
As we’ve previously shared via email, reviews on RealSelf cannot be removed by providers. This policy helps ensure the platform remains unbiased and that patients’ voices are heard. We responded to your emails in March and May requesting additional details, but didn’t receive a reply. (Occasionally our messages land in spam folders, so please check there as well.)
Finally, if you’re unable to identify a patient based on their review, you can contact the reviewer directly by clicking on their profile and clicking “Message.” This feature is available to all providers, not just those who pay for advertising.
We hope to hear from you soon so we can address your concerns more thoroughly.
