I asked a question in the forum section about how the search function worked within my personal Library in my account, and asked if there was a way to add a specific search feature to it. I was blasted by both other members and an admin or two for being stupid and lazy and was told to reorganize my entire library (I had over 5000 patterns) so as to not use "search" at all. I was berated, called names, laughed at, and then a few weeks later when I was told I wasn't welcome in the membership if I supported my President (and that anyone who supported him was racist and a white supremacist), I chose to remove all my patterns (including the ones I designed and sold myself) and leave the platform. They are hateful, horrible people who love nothing more than virtue signaling and spewing their hate and vitriol on anyone who disagrees with them.

Privileged Ivy-League Elites Who Probably Hate You
Owned by white privileged, virtue-signaling Harvard elites, they ban anyone who does not share their extreme leftist orthodoxy, encourage their users to doxx and harass users and former users, and do *nothing* about copyright violations and pattern theft. And that was before they revamped their site without giving a thought for the differently-abled.

Ravelry is owned by hateful political…
Ravelry is owned by hateful political leftists that do not want conservative customers. Left over a year ago when they announce this policy. I always thought their website was like an old DOS website from the 80's anyway, hard to search and pick through.

Ravelry turned hateful since its beginning.
I joined Ravelry from almost the beginning. I thought I had found a site that fit all my knitting and spinning needs. I even donated money when they begged for donations to keep it going in the beginning. I spent (way too many) hours looking at patterns, buying patterns, buying yarn from advertisers, and finding groups to ask questions or help others with knitting issues. Then as the monetary value of Ravelry grew so did the administrator's head. Instead of staying with the original concept he (who became a she) became a bastion for radical Leftist Social Warriors. If you posted in a group viewed as Conservative you were banned. And in the final meltdown all 'chat rooms' that had anything to do with Conservatives or Republicans were dismantled. Now it is true that this is a private company and can run the site however it seems fit. BUT, this racist and hateful platform alienated a huge group of members. Personally I had purchased over a thousand patterns, books and tons of yarn because this opened me up to a whole new world of designers and dyers that became a NEED not a want.
It has been over a year since it became apparent that I was no longer welcome, so I left like so many of my other friends did. Many of designers, sites that sell knitting (and probably crochet) supplies and fiber for spinning sellers have lost a huge source of their income because of the alienation of so many people. I have an entire room filled with yarn. I have bins of fiber to be spun. I have cross stitch and needlepoint canvases to fill in. Have everything to do felting projects. And so on. I have found small businesses and fiber farms to continue buying what I need or think I need. I do not need Ravelry. Do not miss the meanspirited drama on Ravelry. And I will not support a site that considers me a racist because I did not vote for Hilary.
And if you don't believe me, in one year Ravelry has lost over 50% of its value. But I guess in their minds it is better to be a hateful social warrior than a successful and useful website that includes all people, even those with differencing opinions.

Out of date
The site is old and Chucky even with the new update. Its seems very catty in the forums. I have found better sources for getting patterns. I would not recommend. They've become too polical.

Used to be fun, friendly and worth my time
I have many patterns saved in Ravelry and used to share my projects all the time. Unfortunately, I also belonged to a Conservative group on Ravelry that was very popular. Since they have deleted this group, because we all supported Trump as our president - I just don't have the desire. I don't have the friends and the feeling of belonging I once had. Actually I feel like I have been rejected by the group. Maybe 1 day I will return. I love to crochet, I love to talk about it - but I don't like that my beliefs were attacked or that politics were more important that a hobby :(

Stay away from this hate filled site
Was a member for well over 10 years. Loved the all inclusive fiber arts and learning from people all over the world. Unfortunately, the owners have made it a political platform with volunteers who search for “offensive” posts. “F*** Trump” is fine. “God bless” will cause your posts to be removed and you banned from the site. So sad to see the hate that lives there now. Designers have left and there are many other options to this site that focus on fiber arts and non American politics. My advice... stay away

Narrow-minded Ravelry is NOT inclusive! So much virtue signalling.
SO many people have left this website in the last year. It's laughable that they use the word "inclusive" when they chose to exclude a large segment of their users.
For accuracy, I will review Ravelry using its own words. All quotes are direct from Ravelry. I am not making this up.
"We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy."
There is ZERO proof that The President is a white supremacist. Ravelry might not agree with The President, but it doesn't make him a white supremacist. People who support The President are not automatically supporting white supremacy. How ridiculous and narrow minded.
"We are banning support of Donald Trump and his administration on Ravelry."
"This includes support in the form of forum posts, projects, patterns, profiles, and all other content."
As an American you can no longer have an avatar that includes anything related to The President of the United States. You cannot upload a pattern for a MAGA hat or anything similar. It will be removed, and you will be suspended or banned. This happened to people, including me.
"You can help by flagging any of the following items if they constitute support for Trump or his administration." (Followed by a list.)
They want their users to report on one another. Where in history have we heard similar stories?
“Note that support of President Trump, his administration, or individual policies that harm marginalized groups, all constitute hate speech.”
Marginalized means relegated to a marginal position within a society or group. That is EXACTLY what Ravelry is doing. Oh, the irony!
Ravelry is anything but inclusive. Feel free to read their full policy online. It's full of exclusivity. This policy was of great detriment to them, though they will never admit it. They lost a LOT of users, and that translates to dollars. I hope it was worth it.
