I recently returned from the January 14-21 Fly the Drake trip to Antarctica with Quark. What an amazing experience. I keep describing the logistics portion of the trip as the most well oiled tourism machine I’ve ever encountered. For something so multi-faceted and with so many unknowns due to the remoteness of the destination and uncontrollable factors such as weather, this was incredibly seamless for us as travelers. Such an organized bunch of folks to get us prepared, there, and with everything we needed. Thank you! Moving onto the ship and the staff on it. The ship was beautiful. I’ve never been on such a large boat and I was rather blown away by the luxury of an expedition ship. I’m also very grateful for the eco consciousness of it. I noticed there was virtually nothing that wasn’t reusable. This deserves mentioning because I can’t imagine every operator is like this. Hats off to you guys. The staff however, were the real standout. This goes from Woody, our expedition leader, to the housekeeping and restaurant staff and the crew helping us on and off zodiacs every day. I’d like to start listing everyone, but I’m sure I would miss someone who certainly deserves to be mentioned. The scientists, guides, and zodiac drivers (often times all three in one) were brilliant. Smart, fun, engaging, and they all maintained a level of enthusiasm that should be recognized. It can’t be easy to constantly do back to back trips and not get tired of the same old questions and requests of travelers. We would never have known that though thanks to everyone’s patience, fun demeanor, and willingness to help us learn about such a mind blowing place. You all are where it’s at. Thank you! As far as the “hotel” staff. I also can’t say enough great things about them. Everyone was so kind, friendly, helpful, and pleasant. It was a treat every time we got to engage with anyone. I’ve barely been back a week and I’ve been falling all over myself recommending Quark in person, on travel forums, and basically to anyone I think might be interested in the trip. Thank you. You made this the trip of a lifetime.

Everything is set up to make it be a memorabile experience: from preparation briefing to final disembarkation, all is managed perfectly. Staff is amazing and prepared, boat astonishing, Antarctica is… Antarctica

Quark were professional, efficient, and friendly to work with. Their guest services line answered questions timely. They provided all the necessary information on what to pack and I followed it diligently. Once on the ground in Punta Arenas though someone said my waterproof pants weren’t waterproof and basically told me I couldn’t get on the boat unless I bought new ones! Had to do some stress shopping - which isn’t easy in a small town that has basically 2 stores you can buy outdoor gear from and there was limited choice at those as it is half way through the season! Most annoyingly my original pair worked fine- I tried them out on the trip! Anyway the boat was great and the crew on the boat were fantastic. Unfortunately the tour is only 4 days actually in Antarctica sailing around - adding another day so you can be on the actual continent longer would make the trip better. Overall a great experience.

Quark’s Crossing the Circle trip was excellent. Everyone goes out of their way to take care of us. The guides were very knowledgeable & friendly. My next polar trip will be with them

We travelled with Quark Expeditions to Greenland September 2024 on Ultramarine. The ship is beautiful and the crew fantastic. We both had birthdays whilst away. We didn't mention it but we were both surprised with birthday cards and cake. We were lucky and weather was very good overall. Just one windy day when we could not disembark but we did the next day. I was a little worried about the mixed reviews I had seen but everything ran like clockwork. Expedition staff were good. Helicopter pilots very experienced. Felt very safe. A really fantastic holiday and experience to remember

Pros: The expedition leader was professional and worked hard. Most of the expedition team members are friendly. The excursions were very good. Cons: Dinner served too late (7pm). We often had to go to bed early in order to get up early the next morning. Late dinner makes it hard to do so. If we need something from the kitchen, we had to go get them ourselves. The cabin steward’s job was very limited. The onboard photographer Mark was rude!
