I had no complaints with Pubby. I believe I was one of their first authors and I got many, many reviews. Yet in the past month or so, I could not receive anymore reviews. I questioned this with Mary and was told to "be patient", that they would come. The one person who was reading my book at the time, never finished it or left a review. After having several books up for review for over 2 weeks, I decided to cancel my subscription. I don't know what happened. Initially the platform was a great plus. Perhaps its growth got away from the management. I have to say, Mary was always very polite and helpful. I guess its just time for me to move on.

A bit of a rip-off. You pay a monthly fee then have to read/buy other people's books to earn points which you then spend so that you can get reviews. Their site claims you can get 5-10 reviews a week, but this is optimistic and not possible for an extended period. Firstly, because you are only allowed to read 10 books a week to earn points. I have had to read 12 books on Pubby (which is a lot of my time!) to get 7 reviews of my books and I have run out of points to earn reviews for my books. The only way to get more reviews is to spend more money on services or to buy points (known as Snaps). I love reading books but as an author, I don't have time to consistently read 10 books a week.

Pubby can be a great resource to gain higher numbers in reviews but recently I have noticed that reviews are being removed by Amazon. I am not quite sure if these reviewers are authors or just readers abusing the review policy and getting caught. Mary does return the snaps ASAP when I complain about the missing review so that's a plus. But beware that reviews can be missing after a few months of being put up. Pubby needs to find a way to make sure reviewers have a legit amazon account because this is frustrating.

This company has the worst customer service. In my hectic life as a new mom, I didn’t notice they were charging me double monthly. When I found this out, I asked for a refund or at the very least credit to my account. They refused and said they’re only willing to refund for one month when they owe me about 10 months’ worth of subscription money. Buyer beware. Check your accounts.

As a successful author with over 130 books published on Amazon, I had the worst experience ever with Pubby. Once you join, it starts to become very time consuming and costly to get even ONE review. And even when I did get my first review, Pubby actually approved a ONE star review which was so negative and damming for my book, I looked at the reviewers profile and saw that nearly ALL his reviews are 1 and 2 star. My advice to authors is AVOID at all costs.
