They are terrible to deal with in customer service got hung up on 3 times and they hide costs in their billing. Their cancellation fees are ridiculous so better be with them for 5 years and in some cases more otherwise your paying lots of money. For the amount per month Protection 1 costs, I do not feel happy with the service. The camera constantly cuts out. You need to continue to refresh the app or website for the camera to live stream. I have 75mbps internet, yet the camera still cuts from second to second and does not give a smooth picture of what is happening in your household. In comparison to other companies, I am not impressed with the key fob. You have to click and hold a button leaving and returning to your home whereas other companies have their hub set to automatically detect the key fob and disarm or arm the home and you come and go. Scout Alarm system had a far better and cleaner set up. I am not impressed with the response time either. At one point, my door sensor fell off of my door which triggered the alarm. I was out of state at the time and checked the camera before disengaging the alarm. Although I am unsure the amount of time that had past, I know it was more than 30 seconds. Yet I never received a phone call from the alarm company to check in on me. What is the point of having 24/7 home security if no one checks in? I would be better off buying Smartthings in that case and monitoring the home myself since that's what I'm doing now. Overall I am not impressed at all with this system. It is expensive and low quality. I would not recommend this company to my friends or family.

Sales rep sold us a package we couldn't use, all customer service representatives refused to send a tech out to help install. Rude and uncaring attitude and constantly ignored our pleas for help with system. We cancelled service and returned equipment on 3rd day, after fighting with them to help us and stop the harassing calls to us telling us of errors with contacts. After all this stress We finally get one rep who apologized for all the other reps behavior, but we had moved on to another security company. She stated that we were sold a DIYkit so be careful what you order and doesn't know why we were refused a tech to help, it doesn't change the behavior of all the reps that didn't help us, but sadly we moved on. Just our experience but make sure you ask lots of questions before you hang up.

We have not received much help in setting up our alarm system and the first time around it didn't work. The second time we haven't received all of our equipment and personally I really miss my old alarm company. This one has not protected me at all for the month of October.

I had service at my former home with Protection 1 and the new owner took over the contract and service. I get a call once a week (for months on end now) no matter how often I tell Protection 1 this and they keep trying to bill me and call and email me about interruptions in service. I have spoken over and over to staff on the phone about this but everyone there isn't competent enough to correct the issue. Don't use this service.

I had a water leak that the water sensor picked up. The alarm rang and thank god I was home to turn off the pouring water. The Protection 1 Central Alarm called me an hour later. Had I not been home, the house would have been totally flooded during this time.

System was installed about a month ago. It has not worked reliably since installation. Had to wait over a week for service call...yet when I signed the contract the tech was here in an hour to install an activate. Obviously a sales oriented company, not service.

A few days after my installation, my basement door went offline and I get notifications/calls from Protection 1, but they have yet to send a technician out to repair the issue. It's funny how Protection will work with you to schedule an installation (get your money), but when it comes to repairs.....I've been waiting for a few weeks.
