Communicating via a call center and email was problematic from the get-go. After I finally received the control fob, it never has worked. Because communicating so challenging, I have just tossed the fob in a drawer and don't use it.

I don't like the 36 month contract, it does not fit my plan. You need more flexibility like your competitors

How could I rate them I have not spoken to anybody since I got the system!

I was very happy with the install of the products and sensors. What I was unhappy about was the quality of service. I told them I had 4 windows and 1 door and they only sent me 2 window sensors and a door sensor. For the price that I paid for the system you would think they could customize it to house, but was told no zones are labeled and cannot be relabeled. When I asked for more window sensors since they had only sent 2 and I had the 4 windows they said we can do that for and extra charge.

I was an AST customer who had an old system in the house that worked fine. I called to talk about and upgrade. The sales rep said they would come out and upgrade my system and charge me a higher monthly bill for the upgraded service (mobile remote and monitoring). The rep said that the equipment and instillation would be FREE. I agreed. When they came out not only did they not have the equipment for a full upgrade, they charged me an instillation fee. They sent me the wrong contract that had the charges and were supposed to send me one with no charges for instillation. This has been a total cluster. My suggestion is if they offer free upgrade with instillation and equipment stay on top of them. So they don't try and gouge their customers.

Have been with the previous owners for 22 yrs. Since Protection 1 has taken over they seem to be doing OK. I do have a present issue with them not calling me when my phone lines went down for several days and me not knowing it. Secondly, I had to try two times to get someone to contact me with regards to installing CCTV around my house. Never got anyone to come out but ended up with a telephone call telling me how good their systems were but the sales person really did not know what they were talking about. I could not get any specific information at all. I gave up and went with a CCTV provider and installer from Waco. All is good. The only other thing that is really not a barn burner is I wanted 6 new Protection 1 signs. When they came the package only had 2. I called again and told them I needed 4 more, guess what... only two arrived, I called again and then got the last two. It was quite a process.

Lots of alarm companies offer monitoring, and their prices vary wildly. Although some are not credible or trustworthy, one can easily choose by doing some basic research, talking with neighbors, or by reading reviews like these. One thing I can count on Protection 1 for is regular rate increases. At this point i'm paying roughly twice what I would be paying with other reliable companies. I'm paying $32 a month now. And since they use a proprietary alarm system, it's not as simple as just switching monitoring services. Be warned... once you choose these guys your basically locked in to accept their rate increases and paying their high rates.

Customer Service has been good, but my modem in my wall unit had been down a lot and I have only had the system for a couple of weeks. I never had this problem with my last company. I have received several emails saying things similar to this: MURDOCK's Home: The Panel has not responded since 5:30 pm on Friday, September 2 2016. Fix the technical problems and everything is great. If they can't be fixed, well...protection is the entire reason to do business with your company. If I can't keep my family protected round the clock, then there is no reason to keep the business relationship long term.
