Good content, great somatics, lacks BIPOC representation in leadership
Surprised that the program teachers and mentors are majority Caucasian and white-presenting. There isn’t much representation of the global majority, Black, Brown, or indigenous folks. This can translate to us BIPOC patients not feeling safe in spaces where we are not fully represented or intentionally centered. The content, however, is great … though it can be a lot of information. The regulate model needs to be supplemented by an “integration” series of live/ recorded Q&A to answer questions plus simplified practices at early stages. Appreciating the integration of IFS parts work and mindfulness pillars into the retraining structure though! The somatic practices, especially live classes are phenomenal. Experiencing an emotional release without having to go to a PT or an Osteopath in person has created a whole level of accessibility for home-bound folks.
