I hired Poseidon Marine to diagnose an engine with a rough power band and low RPM issue. Although the engine was eventually repaired, my overall experience was extremely disappointing. The first technician did not appear familiar with my engine and could not determine how to connect his diagnostic equipment. Before properly scanning it, he told me the spark plugs were definitely the problem and instructed me to spend approximately $200 on new plugs. They did not fix the issue. He then diagnosed a faulty injector, but because his equipment had not been properly connected, I questioned how that diagnosis could have been confirmed. Poseidon later sent Jeff Harth, who was exceptional. Jeff was knowledgeable, professional, and familiar with the correct diagnostic process. Unfortunately, he had to repeat much of the first technician’s work. Jeff later returned, installed and programmed the injector, and successfully repaired the engine. I have nothing but positive things to say about Jeff and his work. My main complaint is how the company handled the unnecessary expense from the first visit. Tracy from billing, who identified herself as a regional manager, called requesting payment. I explained that I disputed the first technician’s charges and wanted to speak with management before my card was processed. The call ended abruptly, and my card was charged despite my objection. I repeatedly tried to reach someone with the authority to review the situation but could not receive meaningful assistance. Tracy eventually offered to remove only a small service visit charge, which did not fairly address the amount billed for work that largely had to be repeated. Jeff deserves full credit for repairing the engine. However, good technical work does not excuse poor communication, questionable billing practices, or the lack of a fair process for resolving a legitimate concern. I will not use Poseidon Marine again and cannot recommend them. I strongly suggest researching their reviews and other customers’ experiences before hiring them. I sincerely wish I had done so beforehand.
