I am filing this complaint against Poseidon Marine Mechanics regarding excessive charges and unsatisfactory service performed on October 12, 2026, on my 2022 Yamaha 255 FSH (Invoice #3746). I contacted Poseidon because one engine would not start. I was promised a technician around 3:30 PM, but he did not arrive until approximately 5:20 PM. By the time he diagnosed faulty spark plugs, nearby parts stores had closed. I offered to drive approximately 40 minutes to purchase the plugs myself to minimize costs. Poseidon informed me I would continue being charged $325 per hour while the technician waited, despite their late arrival contributing to the parts availability problem. The technician spent time conducting unrelated vessel inspections, checking safety equipment, taking photographs, and preparing documentation. Although the contract authorized a multi-point inspection, I question the reasonableness of these activities during an expensive emergency engine repair visit. The technician texted me the parts location at 6:41 PM after completing his assessment and departed before 7:00 PM. I was charged $928.44, plus $24.14 in credit-card fees, totaling $952.58. My engine was never repaired and remained inoperable. I acknowledge signing an estimate listing a $325 service-call fee and $325 hourly rate. My $500 deposit was credited toward the invoice. However, I dispute the overall reasonableness of nearly $1,000 in charges for this unsuccessful service visit. Additionally, Poseidon emailed me offering potential discounts for providing a FIVE-STAR Google review, raising concerns about its review solicitation practices. I request a full refund of $952.58, a detailed accounting of all labor charges, and an explanation of the company's service practices. I have retained the signed estimate, invoice, emails, inspection report, and technician's text message as supporting evidence.
