We sailed to Antarctica on board the Sea Spirit. It was the experience of our lifetime! The ship was very well equipped and luxuriously furnished. The staff looked after us and went out of their way to meet all our needs and wishes. The expedition staff were top professionals! We can't praise them high enough. If you would like to go to Antarctica, the Sea Spirit is the best ship - small, safe and friendly.

Tierreiche Riese

An unforgettable experience
My trip to The Falklands, South Georgia and Antartica is the most incredible experience of my life. There are no words to express just what the journey meant to me. I was expecting incredible scenery, and an abundance of wildlife which, it delivered tenfold. I wasn’t expecting the overwhelming emotions that came with the animals and the scenery, I think it just far exceeded my expectations, that there was no way to hold back the happy tears, and the sorrowful tears when our journey was coming to an end.
The friends I have made from my trip also will stay with me for life. With only 112 guest, we had the opportunity to get to know nearly everyone on board and with the shared experiences it made forming friendships and conversation flow. The expedition crew were amazing. Lauren had to make some difficult decisions due to weather, but she did so with great leadership and confidence and our cruise was all the more incredible for it. The crews passion for the region is evident and they are more then happy to answer your questions and improved the overall experience. The hotel and navigation crew were always friendly and helpful, and meals were better than I was expecting right up to the end of the cruise considering the logistics of feeding everyone with no fresh supplies available for 3 weeks. It is a journey I would do again in a heartbeat.

Great ship, great people.
The expedition team was outstanding. Highly committed and knowledgeable.
My wife and I were the only two vegetarians on board and the chef took very good care of us during the entire trip.
We had a fantastic time.
Thank you Poseidon
Keep up the good work

Magical
How to describe something uniquely magical?..A land where all the sounds vanish in the stillness of frozen water and crispy air and then suddenly appear again in the splashes of a gigantic tale of a humpback whale. Where colors are limited but yet every single landscape is picturesque and you feel lost in hundreds of tints. Where birds roam in the sky searching for food and seals leisurely rest on magnificent icebergs. Where colonies of penguins are busy in their life walking through the snow back and forth so naive and so far from the brutal human world that unknowingly out of curiosity come to you as close as you can only imagine. A place where untouched beauty of glaciers shows itself in the whole glory. And you feel so small listening to the cracks of falling chunks into the water creating mini tsunamis. A place where I am a guest invited by nature and follow its rules. How to describe something uniquely magical and how to carry this magic into the afterwards everyday life...
The day before disembarking we were told that we would get Post Antarctica syndrome. I didn’t believe it as an experienced traveler I do miss places but usually start thinking of the next destination. When the day arrived and I sadly had to move to my hotel in Ushuaia I kept looking at the ship from my window envying people who were going to depart for Antarctica the same day I arrived from there. I missed the wonderful team of professionals that greeted us 105 passengers on December 19th 2019. Very soon we were hovered by care of every single person working on a ship. They learnt our names and greeted us in our native languages. They learnt our habits and patiently answered every single question we asked. We came as a group of 105 strangers and left as more or less one family.
The first day back to the real world was overwhelming with colors, noises, crowds and unlimited internet. I wanted to go back to the silence and wilderness where blue icebergs greeted us with their absolute perfection. Antarctica is beautiful but it’s people of Poseidon who made this experience absolutely magical. Thank you

Great adventure with a well organised, friendly and highly-experienced team
On 30th November 2019, we boarded the 'Sea Spirit" in Ushuaia for a Poseidon Expedition to Antarctica. We we unsure of what to expect at first, but after having experienced nine days with the Poseidon team we have nothing but praise for the way it looked after us. From the initial briefings on safety and zodiac procedures to the team's interesting lectures on aspects of Antarctica (each team member had their own speciality), to their practical advice and assistance on each landing made us feel that we were always in safe and confident hands.Best of all we were always told exactly what was to happen in various procedures so we never had to wonder what was going to happen. The captain and hotel/cabin crew were welcoming and obliging and the meals provided were very good. The highlight must be the barbecue lunch on the open deck. We had a balcony cabin on deck 5 which was large and comfortable and there were always seats available in the lounge areas with free coffee and biscuits available 24/7. The landings on various places were fantastic with plenty of time to explore under the ever watchful eyes of the expedition team. We were able to go out on the zodiacs twice a day - highlights include pushing through the broken ice in the Lemaire Channel and the zodiac ride through the ';Graveyard of the Icebergs".and sending post cards from the Port Lockroy post office! We didn't do the overnight camping or the 'Polar plunge' but those who did said it was well worth it. All in all, a great adventure with a friendly and highly-experienced and well organised ship's team. We would love to do it again -one day!!
