I received a defective pump
I received a defective pump, which happens from time to time, but Pool Supply World's handing of the situation was horrible. I received the first pump on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend and installed it Saturday morning. Since it was broken, I had to wait until Tuesday morning (3 days later) to notify them of the problem. Their return process required me to take a photo of the broken pump (I assume to confirm I hadn't caused the damage) and they then processed an exchange. When I explained that I needed the replacement urgently, the agent got a supervisor's approval for overnight shipping and an immediate exchange - not waiting for me to return the broken pump. I was told to expect the new pump on Wednesday morning - all was good at this point and I was happy with the solution. The problem started on Wednesday afternoon when I was tracking the now late delivery. The FedEx tracking said the package was to be delivered on Friday, so I called to find-out what the problem was. The agent was very rude and basically told me that I had been misinformed and replacements were never sent overnight. After several minutes of wasting my time providing the specific details of the call on Tuesday including the agent's and supervisor's names, I asked to speak to another supervisor. This supervisor was even less helpful than the agent; basically telling me there was nothing that could be done, the first returns agent had over-promised the one-day shipping and that I should feel lucky that they were even shipping the replacement before receiving the defective pump. There were a lot of unlucky events in this scenario - a broken pump was delivered to me, it was a holiday weekend and Texas heat is not good for algae when you can't operate your filter system for a week! My complaint is that a Pool Supply World supervisor did not have the common courtesy to understand that her company had initiated a series of events that caused me to spend an additional $125 on chemicals and pump installation parts, not to mention several hours of my time going through a second pump installation and cleaning of my pool. I've spent several thousand dollars with Pool Supply World over the last 5-6 years and if this is the way loyal customers are treated, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
