Our loving Golden-Doodle did doggie day care, boarding and grooming with the Charlotte-Matthews location. He was always excited to get there and in great behavior when it was time to go.
Samson moved to Wilmington and we automatically looked for a Pet Paradise there. We scheduled Samson for grooming on Friday, December 18, 2020 (3 pm) with the Wilmington location.
The morning after grooming, we noticed Samson's upper lip was very swollen and irritated all the way across (uniform to the hair cut). (His injuries include cuts or burns to lip, elbow, belly and paw.) My daughter called and the staff said Samson received 5 stars for his grooming behavior and advised her that it could be bee stings (at this time of year) and to put a cream on it. This was unacceptable and I called to speak with him. The staff member (not a vet) stated that he gave that recommendation arbitrarily. Nor did he offer any compassion or support. I asked then to speak with a manager. He said that the General Manager would be in around 11 am. When I received a call back it was well past 11 am (around 2:30-3 pm) and it was not the GM. Again, that staff member was not compassionate. Rather she was dismissive and said see what a vet says. Again, no offer of support, refund, compassion, etc.
Your commitment states that you proudly guarantee providing a safe, clean and fun environment. That anything less is not Pet Paradise. That your staff is attentive and passionate about pets and will go the extra mile to ensure that my pet has a safe and enjoyable time. You also acknowledge that trust is something earned.
Well, I strongly state that this is not the character or commitment of the Wilmington, NC location. I am sure that Dr. Jaime Pickett, your Chief Veterinary Office would be glad to see how pets and their family’s are treated at the Wilmington location.

Extremley disappointed and disgusted.
I picked up my dog today around 3:45pm 8/9/2020 from a simple boarding stay for one night. When I got home, I noticed her butt had dried poop all over it. To send a dog home like that is absolutely DISGUSTING and RIDICULOUS. I had a bad experience with even ordering a bath (and not receiving it at all) about two weeks ago and now, this. I have never had bad experiences at all until recently and unfortunately for me, because I have been bringing my dog there for two years (ever since my dog was a puppy) and it’s one bad experience after another at this point. That’s a whole different level to send a dog home to their owners like that.
I hope at least going forward, that you guys at least pay attention to the dogs that you’re sending home and hopefully don’t do that to another family. I will be looking into a new boarding place to take my dog, as that is just disgusting.
Their only response was "It is incredibly unfortunate that we have been unable to meet the mark with you and Kaya but I completely understand your frustration with us. We really do appreciate your feedback. I'm not sure why this keeps happening with Kaya as we do full physicals on all of our guests each time they come in and leave our facility and there was nothing noted of dried feces. If we had noticed that we would have of course given her a bath. I understand that we may have lost your trust and we would hate to see Kaya go. We do have another facility in Huntersville if you'd like to try out a different Pet Paradise."
My response: "I had been so willing to just give another chance, and I did but now, I am regretting it. This took it to a different level. There was no way that a physical was done prior to dismissing her, when I picked her up because it was under her butt and all in the underneath of her tail. Absolutely disgusting. I also do not feel like anyone would be ok with that. The fact that I pay for my dog to stay there just for one night and 1.5 days, and gets sent home like that and still have to pay full price for everything and only given an apology and other options of a different location is disappointing. I have referred so many people to you guys and have taken my dog there for two years now, and I have never felt so unimportant or valued.
This whole situation and experience just makes me sick, even knowing that I have referred people and recommended you guys so highly before and now, this."
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

Don't even bother with these incompetents
Don't even bother with these fools. Scheduled a vet visit for our first time here. At the last minute they canceled and I had to reschedule. Brought my dog this morning. Told them I was here. Waited 15 mins outside in the heat before anyone came out. I gave them my dogs records and signed up for premier plan as I assumed I would be back. They took my card eagerly and ran it through. They then headed back inside. I asked if they could actually take my dog inside since she was panting heavily. They told me it would be 30 mins. So I went home I live only a few mins away. I figured it would be a while based on their track record. When I got home I got a snotty rude call asking where I was. She told me it was not a drop off appointment and I was supposed to stay outside. No one told me that when I took her in and sitting outside in the heat was ridiculous. I went back and demanded to speak with a manager. Vet came out was condescending so I demanded to speak with facility manager. They gave me a number. I told them to cancel my monthly membership and charge me for the services used today. They then took their time bringing her pills out. I called manager from the car and told her their facility was a joke and people were rude. I asked if the had canceled membership. She said yes so I hung up. Since they had been so incompetent at every step of the way, I called back and asked again if the canceled the monthly charge. As expected they had not. I told her to cancel. She said she canceled but there was a balance owing and I told the fourth person in a row to cancel and charge me what was owed that I would rather swallow razor blades than come back. These people are rude, incompetent, and condescending. It's a nice facility and they are eager to get your money but I fear for dogs left there. I will never go back. Disgusting.

Would not Recommend. Beware!
Very disappointed in my recent visit to Pet Paradise Resort at University Blvd in Jacksonville FL. I brought Draco, my beautiful golden retriever, in for a grooming and the groomer cut his inner ear hair. I expected a perfectly clean fur friend as a result of the grooming but received a pet with a massive ear infection. Examination by Pet Paradise’s own in-house veterinarian indicated the infection was due to the cutting of the ear hair and that ear hair on a dog should not be cut. Not only did I pay for the grooming but also for the $350 vet bill to clean up the ear infection. I discussed the problem with Pet Paradise staff and was heartbroken by their lack of empathy toward my pet and the physical harm that was inflicted on him. As a dog lover, I cannot recommend anyone take their pet to the Pet Paradise Resort on University Blvd in Jacksonville FL. Beware!

(A) Our indoor-only cat who never had…
(A) Our indoor-only cat who never had fleas in her life came home covered in fleas after two nights At Pet Paradise Bartram. She never left the cat condo during her stay, as we noted by camera and as the staff confirmed by observation. Our dogs came home with fleas as well, but since they take Bravecto they were not infested like the poor cat. I called the manager to inform her about the fleas, and she became angry and said there is no way on earth our cat got fleas in that condo because there was no bedding for the fleas.
Look, the reality is the cat did not have fleas before she went there and we've had her almost three years, and she came home with a severe infestation. The vet said that fleas do not need bedding. They can live 100 days off an animal when none are present, and when an animal is present fleas only spend 15% of their time on the animal, and 85% off.
I expected the manager to say something like, "We do try to stay on top of fleas, but because we have all kinds of animals coming through here, issues do happen. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and we will bring the exterminator in to do an extra treatment." No, instead she yelled at me and refused to take any responsibility. If she had been mature about it and taken responsibility I would be assured that others will not go through what we did (spending hundreds of dollars on treatment for our pets and home). Since she will not protect future clients, I will have to do so by leaving reviews online, such as this one. I have only once ever left negative feedback about a business before. I prefer dealing directly with a business when I have a problem, but she refused to listen.
(B) I had my two dogs in the VIP suite ($180 a night), which is supposed to include day camp. I think they completely forgot my German Shepherd one day. I never saw her go out that day. Because I did not check the cameras between 9 and 1, I do not know whether she went out during that time, but from 1 PM Wednesday until 3:30 PM Thursday she was in solitary confinement in that room. I began calling at about 4:00 on Wednesday but could not get through. I finally spoke with a reservations specialist who also could not get through, but left a message for the manager to call me back. They never called back, so I called again and the reservations people did get through. They said that my dog had gotten hot so they put her back inside to cool off. I say they forgot she existed, because even after I spoke with them about her being neglected in a room alone they still never took her out of that room again except for potty walks until I picked her up the next afternoon at around 3:30! That is a minimum of 26 hours in that room except for potty walks. That is CRUEL and I did not pay $180 a night for my two dogs in that suite for her to suffer that way. She was supposed to get day camp, not solitary confinement. Even if she did get hot, take her inside for an hour and then take her back out. Cool her off bu the pool - they have two!
(C) My German Shepherd came home from boarding with diarrhea. She is being treated with Flagyl.
(D) Here is my positive feedback: The lady who takes care of the small dogs in "Tinytown" is amazing and really took care of my little dog nicely. Thank you to her!
(E) However, they did not do right by my little Pomeranian either. When I came for the tour before their reservation, I asked if they would have. a problem with my sending along Puppy Pads for my Pomeranian, who is paper-trained. They said we would need to ask the manager in case it might be a choking hazard. We went to the manager who approved the papers. Because her needs could be accommodated, I booked my reservation.
After dropping the dogs off, I waited an hour or so to give the staff time to put the papers down. (I was checking on the webcam.) No papers were down yet, so I called to remind them. I called two or three times that day, but no papers were ever put down. (See attached screenshot of poo and pee on the floor, no puppy pad in sight).
When I called the NEXT day about my German Shepherd being neglected, I complained about the papers as well. It had been 29 or 30 hours since dropping off my dogs, and they still had not put the papers down. The dogs' room was literally like 20 feet from the front desk. It would not have been hard. Finally I convinced them to put the papers down. I saw on the webcam that my doh popped on the papers, but they never took it out and put clean papers! They should hire more staff if there are not enough people there to meet the needs of ALL animals they care for, and hire exterminators to get rid of their flea infestation. They should not donate to charity before meeting their obligations to paying clients.
I will not board my animals by Pet Paradise ever again!

Will never bring my dog back here
This place appears very nice and organized with picking times that your dog can have individual, group or day camp play time but they did not follow the schedule at all. In fact, my dog didn’t get let out once on the first day he was there because of a mix up of the schedule that we had already clarified when we got there. In addition, as we drove way we got a call saying we had to eliminate individual or group play time due to full times and we chose individual to be stayed but they ended up removing both individual and group play time. I am very disappointed in my dogs stay. And yet we got another call on our way out of town asking if we had dropped my dog off yet... Also, we had gotten multiple calls while we were away asking about how to make our dog eat and we had told them exactly what to do: he needs exercise and individual play time would really help him eat. We had thought he was getting individual play time but even when we told them how to get him to eat they never provided him individual play time. There are so many workers there but there is a huge lack of communication of how to care for your specific dog. I was going into this thinking my dog would love this place but honestly it was the worst boarding place and I will never bring him back there. In addition, when we went to pick him up they tried to charge us with individual play and things that our dog never got.
