Highly Anticipated but Woefully Disappointing
I’ll preface this review by noting how posh the ambience is without being pretentious, though the dim lighting required the use of our phone’s flashlights to read the menu. Sadly, between the poor execution of the menu & the service, Perry's was not at all the elevated experience we were anticipating for a $500 meal (including tip), for a party of four! In the almost 3 1/2 hours we were there, the wait times, from cocktails to appetizers, all the way to the main course, were ridiculously long! Our server’s name was Jeannie, as in the classic TV show, I Dream of Jeannie. If only she'd granted us three wishes, like a 'real' Jeannie could, it would have eliminated myriad snafus that led to this dining debacle. Over the course of multiple delays, Jeannie never made any good will gesture (which would have been appropriate), such as bringing us, I don't know....maybe the complimentary bread & butter that she forgot to serve us altogether! Other issues we experienced included: running out of tequila for the Rare Rita cocktail, running out of crab cakes (ordered as my main, along with a spinach salad), then not being told they ran out until food arrived at the table for other members of our party. The calamari was tasty, but too heavy on the oil & the spinach salad was drenched in the vinaigrette, leaving me with a plate of limp, soggy greens. My friend's potato wedges arrived charred & when asked if she'd like a replacement, she passed, as we couldn't bear another long delay. Her husband ordered the NY strip ($70.00) but was served a different cut of meat. When the NY strip finally arrived, it had a blue cheese topping that he'd never ordered. Overall, we were terribly disappointed by this entire experience & won't be returning. For a restaurant that runs 23 locations across the US & touts itself as providing impeccable service & an award-winning menu, it seems the 11,000 sq. ft. Gilbert location might be a tad ambitious for their kitchen to handle.
