Peerspace does collect a fee from hosts and guests which covers the costs of running our business, including completing transactions and providing support for bookings. Our two-sided marketplace is a complex machine - one that requires significant upkeep from our engineering, product, sales, and operations teams. The host service fee helps cover this upkeep. Hi Kimberly - Thank you for leaving your review! We are sorry to hear this has been your experience booking and hope we can provide some additional clarity into your experience. When it comes to processing payments, an authorization hold is placed on the card when you attempt a payment but then is released if the card is declined. Thus, declined transactions can temporarily appear as "pending" transactions until removed by your bank. Often cards are declined for reasons such as the bank blocking the transaction or information being inputted incorrectly such as the CVC code or zip code. The card will continue to decline until remedied. It looks like we received a phone call from you whilst our phone support was closed on the weekend, and we promptly followed up Monday morning via email with clarity as to why the card was being declined. If you have any further questions, please respond to the support ticket and our Customer Experience team would be happy to continue assisting you.

It is important to us that your feedback has been heard and we hope we can provide you with some clarity surrounding your case. On 9/15/2023 we received an email from you because your host was on site for the last hour of your booking. Our team informed you that this does not violate any policies within our Terms of Service, as we do encourage hosts or a site rep to be present during bookings to support guests with anything they need. We also could not confirm that you and your host agreed to have a private booking, so we moved forward with closing the case. Furthermore, we follow a detailed process to ensure fair dispute resolutions. The credit card issuer made the decision in this instance based on the requested evidence that was provided to them. Although we are unable to provide additional details our support team is ready to address any further questions you may have. We are sorry to hear that this was your experience, but we appreciate your understanding of our policies and Terms of Service.
