DISSAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE
We bought a beautiful 7month old Italian Greyhound puppy through Pawrade. On their site he was described as being crate trained, grass trained, paper trained, socialized, loved cuddling, and loved bath time. We're an older couple and have formerly raised two Italian Greyhounds one from 4months old and one from 8 weeks old. We knew we couldn't do it again so to be able to skip so much of the initial training seemed wonderful. If only this were true. What we got was a beautiful dog that after three weeks with us still won't let us touch him let alone put a collar on him. We can't pet him, pick him up or hold him. We can't take him to the vet which we need to do. He's definitely NOT socialized. He's terrified when anyone comes over. We had a trainer come over and it was a disaster with the trainer trying to corner and catch him which resulted in this poor little guy running through the house pooping everywhere. The trainer said he was very angry with the breeder for allowing this dog to be sold. I've contacted Pawrade twice and they won't return my calls or messages. We paid a lot of $$$ for a puppy that probably should have stayed with the breeder. There were other older pups for sale through Pawrade with similar promises. It's now January and he's letting me pet and scratch him. He follows me all over the house. He's funny, and sweet, but we still have along way to go with him. Still can't get a collar on him. We're happy we have him but what does it say about a breeder who keeps a puppy so long that it becomes a part of their family and bonds with them only to sell him to strangers and causes such separation anxiety and confusion? He still flinches if either of us lift a hand just a little bit which raises another question.

Cynthia, we are sorry that you are not completely happy with your new pup. When you take a pup from the only home it has ever known it can be very stressful. You mention that the pup was 7 months old and previous pups you adopted were 8 weeks. That is key information. At 8 weeks a pup is like a toddler and will quickly adjust to new surroundings. At 7 months that is like a teenager who will be far more bonded and far more upset about being taken to a new home. A 7 month old pup will require additional time, love, and patience to reacclimate to absolutely everything being new and strange. Greyhounds are also well known to be "quirky" and "skittish" as part of their personality. That will also make adjustment take a bit linger and a bit more effort. Please give him time and love. Dont force it, especially by introducing another new stranger (trainer). As you acknowledged, your pup is older, and this can make adjustment more challenging. It is also impossible to know this until you actually rehome a pup. I have also looked into any communication issue and we have no messages form you since 12-2-2024. Please reach out in the Message Center where you have always communicated previously.
