Nice people, poor business model.
When oxygen at night was first prescribed for my spouse a little over two years ago, we checked out information on different models of machines and decided that on a model that was billed as the quietest. Rather than go through medicare, we decided to buy directly from the Oxygen Concentrator Store so we could have the model we wanted. The concentrator worked fine for about two years, then started to shut off for overheating or some other cause. That's when we found out that no business in our area would service the concentrator, and that the only way the Oxygen Concentrator Store would service it would be to ship it back to Colorado, incurring substantial shipping charges and being without use of the machine for weeks or months -- an option that has zero appeal to us. We contacted the service staff at the Oxygen Concentrator Store and determined that a couple of filters always needed to be replaced about now. They agreed to sell the replacement filters to us and pointed us to a video that showed how to replace the main filter involved. With some effort and luck, we were able to replace the filter, and the concentrator has been running acceptably, though not perfectly again. So, I would give the support staff at the store a 5-star rating and the business model that precludes local service a 1-star (0 stars if that were available). Should we live long enough to need a replacement concentrator, we will definitely acquire it from a local company that will service it here as necessary.
