Horrible, just horrible. I found the software to work okay, but they do this thing where they message ALL your contacts, without you knowing about it, a personal invite FROM YOU, pretending like you're inviting them to your Otter team. Then, they send messages to everyone who ever attends any meeting with you with a personal sounding invite FROM YOU using YOUR name. The setting to turn this off is super buried. It's not even in your settings. You have to figure out that there is a 'Workspace' setting page, in addition to your normal setting pages, and that's where you can turn it off. I messaged Otter and they couldn't even be bothered to answer and it's been 1-2 weeks already. Stay away unless you want everyone you know to come to you one after another and ask you why you keep inviting them to Otter.

It's impossible to work. These guys constantly update their service during working hours. And I get kicked out of the program. And every time I have to wait until they make these new updates. And the newer the update, the worse. Advice: make your updates at night. Don't disturb people's work. After all, they paid money for your service, and not for these endless site updates.

I was charged double for a monthly subscription because a work colleague viewed my workspace. Initially, I paid $99.99 on 12 November 2024 for an annual subscription and thought the AI was good. However, less than one month later, on 9 December 2024, I received an invoice for a further $94.78. After seeing the money leave my account, I contacted their customer service via email through their AI chatbot. It has now been over a week, and I have yet to receive any response. At first, I assumed I had accidentally been charged twice for my subscription because my bank card expired, and I was issued a new card around this time. But after giving up on waiting for their customer service to respond, I decided to cancel my account entirely. While attempting to cancel, I was met with the usual prompts encouraging me to stay subscribed. That’s when I discovered I could supposedly cut my annual charge in half by removing a colleague from my workspace. The issue is—I never invited anyone to my workspace! I didn’t recognize the name of the person listed, and they were definitely not part of my UK team. If Otter AI is going to charge an additional annual subscription fee every time someone new views your workspace (even without your consent), stay far away from this service. It feels like a scam. Adding insult to injury, this issue coincidentally occurred right after Microsoft Teams released its AI update that can transcribe, record, and make notes on all meetings. It seems Otter AI has become obsolete and is resorting to unethical practices to make up for its dwindling relevance. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this platform at all costs. I regret ever subscribing.

Was thinking I was using their trial plan. Credit card information required, so I put in my credit card info for the trial plan. Opened up the application and realized it was much more than I needed, especially for the price they would charge. I was then surprised to discover I was charged $107 for the year. All attempts to rectify the situation and obtain a refund have resulted in no response from support. The Chatbot indicates that their terms of service states they don’t offer refunds if a plan is purchased through their site? What is that about? Request a refund for a product you have never used, and they refuse to refund you? Please do not use this product or especially give them any credit card information

I was on a free account and wanted to get the full transcript, so I paid for a pro account. I am unable to access the full transcript - I keep getting a window that says "You can get the full transcript using your paid plan minutes." When I click "unlock full transcript," the pop-up changes to "Processing" and then "You can get the full transcript using your paid plan minutes." It's been several days and I still haven't heard back from Support. Otter.ai is useful until you have an issue, then you can't get it resolved in a timely manner, and their terms of service do not allow refunds. There are other transcription apps out there that have caught up and surpassed Otter, so just skip it.

I have unauthorized cc charges and they ignore all correspondence

Otter joins every call and sends me unwanted screenshots and trasncripts, even with all the auto-join settings turned off. I even deleted my entire account, twice, but my account simply still exists and Otter simply joins every single meeting. There is no way to stop it or disconnect it either in-meeting or otherwise, and their 'support' seems to be an AI also, and therefore of no help at all. An invasion of privacy and data misuse. I'm absolutely appalled. UPDATE: Deleted my Otter account for the 3rd time yesterday. Came into work this morning to find that Otter has sent me a transcript of a meeting last night I wasn't even at.The transcript is all about the meeting discussing how no-one is able to get rid of Otter AI! UPDATE (following Otter's first response to this review, shown below): As of now, even our IT guy has given up trying to get rid of it. Otter still emails me telling me it's going to auto-join. We simply ask our clients to not let it in to meetings. I'm still appalled. They deserve to be sued.

It's a fraud. Deleted the amount and still got monthly payments deducted from card.
