It was a great service until recently. They removed the Address Book for the free service. THE USPS WEBSITE HAS A FREE ADDRESS BOOK. the rates seem to have changed, too, so it costs exactly the same as the regular USPS website. I am closing my Orangemailer account. When it would automatically bring up addresses from the address book I had been compiling for over a year it was great, now all that is lost unless I buy in to their service at a higher (paid) level. not worth it, the post office website lets me print postage and keep an address book, and apparently it's the exact same rate-- BUT on the USPS site you can also the flat rate postage and print from home if you have the flat rate boxes- which you can pick up at the post office for free- AND you don't need to load a "minimum" balance you just pay for exactly what you use... So go use the USPS site. save time and skip the middle man who can take away your address book at any time and arbitrarily keep your surplus balance if you close your account.

Hi, The free service has always - since day 1 - been the same price as USPS. Full retail. But you are correct about the address book. Click-n-ship does offer one, so long as you only ship Priority mail or Express. They do not offer First Class, Certified, Media, Library, Parcel like we do - all for free. Additionally, you are incorrect to say that we don't offer Flat Rate postage - we do. We offer nearly everything that your local post office offers. As for the $10 minimum in credits for postage. We actually wish that we could offer the same as USPS - but if we allowed for a 55 cent charge on your credit card, we would lose more than 30 cents every time. Unlike USPS - we do not get government funding. We are a start up working to provide an alternative so that you get convenience and service at a reasonable price. As "The Virtual Post Office" we do not compete with USPS (or Click-n-Ship). We are an alternative to standing in line at your local post office. One last item - we don't keep your surplus if you close your account. Our terms of service are clear and transparent. The _most_ we keep is 3% with a $1 minimum. Why? To help cover your credit card fees. We felt it would be better to do that instead of charging every transaction 2.9% + 30 cents (which a competitor does). You don't get charged this unless you cancel your account. And if your balance is less than the $1, you don't even get charged that. If you would like to download your address book send a ticket to our support. They will be more than happy to export that for you. Additionally, as a long term user you are entitled to a discount on the new $4.99 monthly plan. The discount shows on the Your Subscription page and reduces that price for the next 12 months. If you need nearly every option the post office offers - without the "bells and whistles", the basic account is just like it always has been - free.
