I have been a member for many years and never had a single issue until they were acquired by Amazon. I guess that's what you get when your healthcare company is run by greedy billionaires. The billing is disorganized at best and duplicitous at worst. Getting treatment is difficult and the doctors, while well-intentioned, don't seem very personable and don't read your chart before your appointment. Also there seem to be major problems with their billing team and negotiating insurance, leaving members confused and in the dark about how much an appointment will cost. One Medical needs a major overhaul because it used to be so good.

Don't have great expectations
Don't have great expectations. I gave 2 stars because there have been times when I have used this sevice with decent outcomes. The only reason to use this service is to avoid the cost of a regular doctor visit if it is nothing serious. But, my most recent experience was not helpful and all I needed was antibiotics for a sinus infection.

Very poor communication and unnecessary waste of paper and energy
First and only time I used it- I had a bad eczema breakout and sent a photo for a second opinion. The nurse who messaged me recommended to buy over the counter .1% hydrocortisone and take Benadryl if needed. Simple plan. What I didn't expect was a call from my pharmacy telling me I had 2 orders ready for pickup: 10 Benadryl which cost double the price of the pills in the aisle, and a special .2% hydrocortisone cream. The nurse poorly communicated- they didn't ask me if I wanted it, nor did they tell me that they had prescribed it. And then I received a 5 page letter from my health insurance informing me of the approved medications- so unnecessary and such a waste of paper and time.
I didn't pick up the meds, of course- I had bought everything over the counter the day before I got the call from the pharmacy.

I really like my overall experience…
I really like my overall experience with One Medical. I feel my dr could have had better communication around recent tests and care coordination. It's caused me to lower my opinion of One Medical a bit and I am looking for a new dr.

I just cancelled my membership in One Medical
I just cancelled my membership in One Medical. I have been a patient of One Medical for the last 15 years. Both my wife and I have had some great experience and some really bad experience. I had a wonderful PCP until the end of 2024 when she retired. The Bon Air office in Marin was awesome and the services were always excellent. I can't recall when Amazon acquired One Medical. But the last 2 years have been awful. I literally could not find a PCP in any office in my service area (Marin) over the last 2 years. I was assigned to another one and she then retired. Now there are no MD's who are accepting new patients and the Bon Air office is closed. My wife has had 3 PCP's over the last couple of years, 2 of whom were young yet left the practice. Her current PCP in Berkeley is excellent. Another part of the problem with One Medical is that they are an independent private medical practice, have their own medical records system, and any work done by specialists means you end up with medical records scattered all over the place, and no center of inpatient care should you need it. And you only have care coordination as long as you have a proactive PCP with regular follow-up. I have just started a relationship with a PCP/MD in Marin Health who is awesome, and I will consolidate all my medical care (primary care, cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, dermatology, , etc) with Marin Health on one platform with access to Marin General Hospital!

Firing One Medical after over six years as a patient.
I will be firing Eliza Singer at the San Rafael Office after three to four years with her as a PCP and I will be firing One Medical after over six years.
The icing on the cake with Eliza Singer whose formal name may be Nancy was when she wouldn't fill a prescription of a medicine I have been on a number of years, and this medicine works for me.
She referred me to a specialist and without my permission sent a referral that was worded in a way I didn't like to the specialist's office.
She didn't feel like she could manage the medicine. That may be the case.
She can be very bratty and immature.
Once she did show good judgement with the blood pressure pill and once, she seemed confused on which orthopedist office I was referred to.
Eliza seems to like to make referrals but is not good at it. Once she referred me to a specialist and after Googling, I determined I did not want to see that specialist at all.
Another time I asked for a referral and told her the locations that worked, and she gave me two names that were in a location that didn't work. And she gave me one name of someone inexperienced who I did not feel comfortable seeing.
Once I made an appointment with Eliza two weeks in advance and she cancelled the appointment the night before. And I made an appointment with another provider and then I wanted a follow-up appointment and Eliza scolded me that I had already had an appointment about that health issue.
Eliza has taken several leaves the last couple years including a maternity leave, a sabbatical, and probably others. That is too much time off. One Medical should curtail her time off.
Looking at One Medical's website on my list of medicines there is a medicine I took briefly a year or so ago and have not taken since. And there is an error on my secondary insurance.
There was an error on my billing a year ago and I paid too much in co-pay. I talked to a billing supervisor, and I never received the refund.
A number of times I have had bad experiences with admin staff over the phone. And I try not call the office as the wait time can be forty-five minutes or longer at least a couple years ago it was like that.
When I have needed an appointment soon and there is a several week wait to see Eliza, I had two good providers and a number who were not up to par.
Before Eliza I saw a nurse practitioner named Amy Dibble a couple times before she left for other pursuits. She was totally useless.
I saw a woman MD at the San Rafael office who had good reviews, but was fairly nasty and after that I wasn't able to make an appointment with her on the App.
So, Eliza and One Medical are not good enough for the reasons listed above and I will go elsewhere, and I recommend you go elsewhere also.

I signed up last year
I signed up last year, as I am generally happy with most Amazon services. However, my experience with Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy was not great. I met with my doctor in person a few times and had a couple of virtual calls. The Doctor (a PA) was very nice, and I liked her. She wasn't very thorough IMO, and missed some opportunities for important blood testing/screening to help me monitor any progress I was making. Anyway, when Amazon stopped taking insurance - without warning, that was a killer. Their pharmacy is non-communicative and probably the worst pharmacy I've ever dealt with.

Scheduling specialist visits is insane
I have been a patient at One Medical in the DC area for about 6 years. The doctors and staff in each office have been wonderful. But administration and scheduling is ridiculous. I had to have a colpo last year and since my PCP isn't trained I had to see a different doctor. I have a low grade cervical lesion that needs to monitored. I couldn't schedule through the app because she isn't my PCP, and they said she is not taking new patients. I am NOT a new patient! And I have a literal request from this doctor to schedule with her in my app. I get it scheduled, an early morning 7:50am appointment 25 miles away in DC (I'm out in VA). While I'm getting ready I get a portal message that I didn't look at, because I assumed it was my bloodwork results from the week before and I get on the road because I was running late, pay a toll to go on the expressway. So 15 to 20 minutes AFTER the portal message they call me to tell me my appointment was cancelled. Like things happen, totally get that, but WHO DOESN'T pick up the phone and call the 1st patient on the schedule immediately? You think everyone is keeping up with portal messages? So then when I have to reschedule, which again, can't schedule through the portal so I have to go though messaging and I get the whole you're not a patient of hers, again. YES I AM, how many times do I have to say this, don't you people track notes in the system???? When I express my frustration, she says "emergencies are unavoidable." I'm not frustrated over there being an emergency and cancellation!!!!!! I'm frustrated over no one picking up the damn phone and calling me immediately so that I wouldn't have gotten on the expressway that has a $20 toll! Then she says someone will get back to me to reschedule, but nope, I need to send another message 4 days later to get it rescheduled.
So I finally have my appointment, and my pap came back saying my lesion is changing. Again, have to schedule through the app for my Colpo. Today, I get a cancellation of my appointment through the app, no phone call, just a message telling ME to call or reschedule through the app, which AGAIN, I can NOT schedule though the app. I call, get put on hold for 15 minutes and then she can't help me or get me to the people who can. So I have to message again. Not them message me to reschedule. I have to message them.
You would think that since the news of my lesion changing is concerning, they would handle this with better care. Now, everyone I have connected to has been very nice, so I can't tell if there is some level of incompetence among the admin staff or if their communication polices just suck or it's just that the system is not setup to handle specialty appointments.
I pay a fee to go to one medical for convenience, ease and consistency but these last couple months have been ridiculous. As someone who works in IT consulting, Amazon has some of the best engineers in the country and they can't make some simple changes to the app differentiating between PCP and specialist visits? Why do I have to jump through hoops to schedule a damn pap or colpo??? Get your shit together Amazon. You're already being targeted by boycotts, DO BETTER!
