Location Australia including Tasmania and the Outback
Location! Australia is fabulous. Value. Cost was much less than I expected. Very well organized. The included tours at each location were excellent. In addition, we had a VERY GOOD trip leader who provided multiple alternative activities each day tailored to each tour member`s interests - museums, nature, cultural activities, etc.

ÓAT is awesome for single travelers
I just returned from my eighth trip with OAT—Southern Spain and Portugal. As always, the trip leader was excellent and offered many extra learning experiences. As a single traveler I love that OAT doesn’t charge a single supplement on land tours. I’ve read all the poor reviews on this website, and most seem to be related to travelers canceling, changing and getting refunds. I’ve never had to do any of those things, and all of my experiences with OAT staff, on phone and on trips, have been excellent.

Tunisia from the Sahara to the…
Tunisia from the Sahara to the Mediterranean was fantastic. Tunisia is a small country packed with history, history and diversity. Our trip leader was exceptional and I enjoyed fully each and every day. Two weeks is a perfect amount of time to do a deep dive in Tunisia. The itinerary was excellent and i also enjoyed free time to explore a lot on my own or with a fellow traveller. Accommodations snd meals were outstanding. I left wanting to learn more about Tunisia and I definitely plan to return!

My October 2026 trip to China with OAT…
My October 2026 trip to China with OAT was absolutely wonderful! With five amazing base locations, there were so many cool sights and local moments to enjoy. I was drawn in by the pandas, the Terracotta Warriors, and the Great Wall, but I loved everything else just as much—like taking the Shanghai subway to see The Bund glowing at night, painting fans in Fuli Old Town, dressing up backstage before the “Changing Face” show, joining a Sichuan cooking class, and chatting with locals in the parks. The temples and palaces are stunning and full of history, but I also loved watching Chinese visitors enjoy them. Yes, it gets crowded, but our trip leaders guided us through it all. Everyone was so welcoming and just as curious about us as we were about them. It helps to have a translator app ready—practice using it, smile, and stay friendly. Just be present, and every day will surprise you.
Our trip leader, Shelley, was fantastic and always went the extra mile for everyone. Her stories and insights really brought the whole journey together. The local guides at each stop were super knowledgeable, too. The hotels were great—I’d give them 4 to 5 stars—and the food was delicious and plentiful!
A quick heads-up about food: our group included a few picky eaters who weren’t big on spice, garlic, onions, or meat—and even after two weeks, just sharing dishes was a challenge for them. If you’re unsure what to expect, here’s some friendly guidance: if a dish looks spicy, it is; if you’re wondering if that dish has meat, it does; and since adult meals are prepared with garlic and onions, grow up and roll with it. The included meals are set menus rather than choices. But since you’re an adult, feel free to grab a meal on your own that suits your taste—you’ll pay for it, but it’s really affordable. You can also pack snacks like trail mix, protein bars, or your favorite candy—you definitely won’t go hungry unless you want to. You’re welcome to take an extra piece of fruit, bread, or cheese from breakfast to save for later. It’s also a good idea to bring a few basics just in case: Imodium AD and MiraLAX Gentle Constipation Relief, plus Advil or Aleve, an allergy medicine like Allegra, tissues, and hand sanitizer.

I liked my tour guide but not so much the hotels and tour schedule
I liked my tour guide, Kazu, who was very pleasant and knowledgeable, kind and funny. Good pick. Enjoyed him a lot.
I disliked the fact that lots of dinners were not included into the package deal, which wasn't cheap at $6700 per person WITHOUT the transatlantic flights that I purchased myself. The hotels were okay, good locations but nothing special, and in Kanazawa, the Holiday inn hotel was awful: very small rooms, smelly rooms, and the breakfast buffet was terrible. This hotel should have not be on that small group Discovery tour.
I didn't liked that program, schedule, activities were changed on us, if not often, often enough that we got confused more than once. Overall I enjoyed my trip but I had a way more luxurious and better experience in India, another small group tour with oversea Adventure Travel. I noticed a big difference in hotel grade, and restaurants food quality between these two trips for the same budget more or less.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're delighted that Kazu made such a positive impression and that you enjoyed your journey overall. We're sorry to hear that the accommodations, dining arrangements, and itinerary changes did not meet your expectations, particularly compared with your previous experience traveling with us in India. We appreciate your candid comments and will share them with our team for review.

We had a great overview of Australia in…
We had a great overview of Australia in 16 days, hitting the most important spots. We had a terrific guide, Maigread, who helped make the experience safe, efficient and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We saw kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and a host of other wildlife in the wild, we snorkeled the. Great Barrier Reef, we saw a play at the Sydney Opera House.....checked off a lot of bucket list experiences. Great trip, great experience, my sixth OAT tour.

My trip to Iceland was nothing short of amazing!
My trip to Iceland was nothing short of amazing! Our trip leader, Gudny, was beyond excellent. She was so helpful and accommodating for everyone in our group. The itinerary was fantastic, very well organized and a great pace. We even did a few things that weren't on the itinerary, including an Icelandic horse roundup. Wow! So many beautiful waterfalls, ice caves, whale watching, horseback riding, a goat farm, geothermal power plant, geysers, bubbling mud pits and steam vents. We even saw northern lights! Our hotels were all in great locations to do our own exploring. During our free time, we went to a local swimming pool with hot tubs, saw FlyOver Iceland, Lava Show and Sky Lagoon. We ate local foods and engaged with local people everywhere. This was my 2nd trip with O.A.T. I was traveling by myself and the people I met in our group were wonderful. I hope to run into them again on future travels with O.A.T.!!!

My trip to Peru
My trip to Peru - Lima, Cuzco, Machu Picchu was amazing. Seeing the sites was enough to make for a wonderful experience. Our tour guide, Fredy, brought the country to life. His love of his country was apparent. I felt as if he immersed us into the culture. Over the 10 days he introduced us to many native Peruvians ....through a planned home visit and randomly chatting people during our travels. I have already booked another OAT trip. It will be hard for any tour guide to live up to the standard that Fredy set.
