They did not release SMS for my purchased number. This is delaying my little launch so i am not happy. Unfortunately my new provider is slow so this hickup has compounded. But numberbarn responded quickly so it if is fixed soon I will add a star or two.

Original Response:
Hi Alex, thank you for alerting us that there was an issue. When your number was ported away from NumberBarn, the SMS portion of the number wasn't automatically released to your new provider. We just released that and you should now be able to activate texting with your new provider. This happens automatically on wireline to wireless ports. But this was a wireline to wireline port and ended up being more of a manual process. We'll work to make this better.
Addendum Response:
Alex, thank you for the edit to your response. I'm going to leave my original response in case it helps others but I'm glad we were able to resolve the issue quickly. I'm sorry you had to contact us at all. I will work with our team to see if we can better streamline this for the future.

They broke my landline number and responded with horrendous customer service.
I ported a cell number over and everything went fine.
Then I ported my working phone number to Numberbarn. Numberbarn notified me the port was complete and the number was ready. When I tested it, every call to the number returned a busy signal. The number has been unreachable ever since — third day so far. Before the port it worked with no problems. Customer service is blowing me off. No callback as I requested, reason why it's not working, or ETA.

Hi Paul, Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I won't candy-coat my response. This was a frustrating, unfortunate process that took an extended amount of time to resolve. I'm glad that your number is properly working again and am working to understand the root cause with our carrier to prevent the issue with your call routing in the future. I'm very sorry for the impact this had and thank you for your cooperation throughout the process.

Not Responding to My PORT OUT Request of 12-2025
I have had a landline number parked at NumberBarn for a number of years. They deduct a monthly fee from my checking account. Starting in December, I tried to PORT OUT that number only to get an automatic message: "We are unable to display porting information for this telephone number. Please click the button below to request the Customer Service Record and a member of our team will respond within 24 - 48 hours." I "Request CSR" and go thru whatever prompts are necessary. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED SINCE DECEMBER 2025!!!!! No response. No email. No message from customer support. AND THEY STILL TAKE THE MONTHLY PAYMENT OUT OF MY CHECKING ACCOUNT!$#!!! I NEED TO PORT OUT THE NUMBER that they are holding. Can anyone help?? There is no tele # for their customer service. I keep trying and trying to get an answer from them thru the website. They never respond.

Overall it is the worst customer…
Overall it is the worst customer service I have encountered. I lost my phone and need my phone number for account verification. As present, I am unable to get a sim to reactivate my t mobile account and my cell does not have esim capability. I requested to port my number to numberbarn and for some strange reason my request was cancelled. I contacted numberbarn thru their support (which is email) and each time I was told a person would contact me in 24 hours to give me status and a solution. I sent 4 or 5 request to support and only rec'd a standard reply that numberbarn support would get back to me in 24 hours --never happened. If all goes thru with out a problem, no issues with numberbarn. But a company is mainly judged on how they handle problems. With that being said, I would not use numberbarn. I will cancel my request and go else where

Hey Chuck, I'm sorry for the poor experience. We requested information about your ticket but haven't heard back from you. If you can respond or contact support again and put it to the attention of Jeremy, we want to make sure we get this right. I look forward to hearing back from you.

I really liked them until they emailed…
I really liked them until they emailed me about this new law that was going into effect Feb. 1st, 2025. They sent me an email to got the their sister company String. The instructions how to do that was not very helpful. After the port was denied because they made it sound like it was a transfer and not a port, I didn't have the right acct. # or pin. I googled the right way to do it and was able to. But in the meantime, their "sister company" String wasn't able to register my business, was more expensive for only able to give me a calling feature. I reached out to number barn and they said it is out of their hands the process is already done. The other company doesn't have a phone number to contact them. You can't log into as account. So now I probably will lose the number I paid for on numberbarn and have to get a new number and have to redo all my advertising stuff. All because of this law that was supposidly to control political messaging, which now that I think of it I can't believe I believed that since why would the government make a law to stop something they do. Makes no sense. Plus I still get tons of political messages. So, it stopped my business but didn't stop the political messages. Do yourself a favor, stay away from these places. I will just go back to a legit place.

Hi Amy, thank you for taking the time to share this. I won't candy coat things here. The regulation you are describing is called "10DLC" and it has indeed been a challenge where the only way our customers can send outbound text messages is by using our String service and registering a 10DLC campaign. This has put many customers, like you in a difficult spot. We're doing our best to help and are also working toward a sustainable solution for all of our customers. If you have further questions don't hesitate to reach out.

I attempted with 3 different emails to…
I attempted with 3 different emails to create an account from two different PC and networks and mumberbarn never created my account. Yet I got an email confirmation on the first time I created an account and purchased a number only to be told the account invalid.
I believe this is a scam!

I was using numberbarn over 4 years for…
I was using numberbarn over 4 years for all my vanity number needs. And successfully ported out to wireless carriers on an as needed basis until May 2023. 7 canadian phone numbers I had parked with them are found can not be registered for whatsap. That means I can not use that numbers anymore. Finally ended up deleting all my vanity numbers deleting and closing my account with numberbarn. All the costs for tge numbers and the parking cost were lost. They have refunded only one month parking fee .
If you are planning to buy any numbers please enter on whatsap ( pretend changing number ) and check the compatibility .

Hi Joe, Thank you for taking the time to post this review.
Regarding WhatsApp, we've been watching this situation closely. The short of it is that NumberBarn numbers are classified as wireline and WhatsApp made a change in policy to no longer support wireline numbers. We're finding that even when customers port their number to a wireless carrier, WhatsApp still isn't supporting certain numbers.
We have corresponded with WhatsApp support and they have acknowledged an issue but don't have an idea as to when this will be fixed. It seems their system isn't refreshing regularly to see that a number is classified as wireless not wireline.
I have your ticket open and will keep you updated in the event that WhatsApp changes their position in the future.

Broken billing system, fraught with gotchas
I acquired one number, and initiated a port out to my mobile carrier. Because NumberBarn classifies its numbers as "wireline" this takes a couple of days, and meanwhile I acquired a couple of additional numbers for my family. Doing so interrupted my first number transfer; it was blocked by NumberBarn because, apparently, during the checkout process of those additional numbers my NB account temporarily showed a balance. (I'm extrapolating this reason from subsequent conversations with NB support).
A few days and many additional emails between myself, NB support, and my mobile carrier it looks like the glitch is sorted out. Both ends have been helpful, so there's that at least.
Just be warned: With NB - do ONE thing at a time. Let that complete before attempting to acquire additional numbers.
Update 2022-11-27: Gotta remove one more star. It's just too finicky - there are too many ways for a number transfer to be rejected. In my latest, ongoing attempt, after 4+ days the transfer was rejected with the reason "Account NNNNN is pending disconnect". Back story is that just after acquiring the number I changed to the "parking" plan for an additional $6/month, but apparently the checkout process does not charge this amount and the balance is maintained on the line (!). In this case the port transfer is rejected.
Just be sure to watch your account balance like a hawk throughout the porting process. Stupid little things means you need to contact your mobile carrier and initiate the process again. Plan to spend 1+ week on this.
UPDATE 2023-12-14: Removing yet another star. Their accounting is a mess. I just received an email stating that my account was deleted due to non-payment, and that this was the "fourth and final notice". Thing is, I didn't have any numbers with them currently, nor a balance. (Well, there's always a possibility that their own broken billing system imposed a few cents of "tax" that fell between the cracks as usual). In any case I certainly did not receive any prior notices about anything like this.
Stay far away.
