The person I talked to was very helpful and she put me at ease. i have never used or heard of needtags in the 28 years I worked for DMV i their computer support unit and neither has my coworkers. the one thing I can say is that the redirect from the DMV page to your page should not be as covert as it is

I'll admit, I hired them by accident. I'm technology-savvy and was seriously kicking myself when I realized I'd hired a sponsored company from the search engine results instead of using the link to the dmv site. Then I searched to see if the company was a fraud. I was relieved to see the DMV lists them as a partner. So they were legit, they just cost a lot more than if I'd gone directly with the DMV. But here's why my review is a 5 star review: The process was amazing. We did not have a cookie-cutter situation for the transfer of title. The person I was helping to transfer the title got the car from her dad as he was leaving the country permanently. She picked it up after he was gone. It turned out he'd filled out the title incorrectly and wasn't around to personally fix anything. NeedTags was able to tell us exactly what documents they still needed, the form number for correcting the mistakes, what we needed to do with the incorrect sections, and what wording to include so that the DMV would know that no fraud was intended (I would never have known what form number was needed or even that another form would correct things.) They were able to tell me in some emails back and forth that the daughter was able to fill out the correction form and that we didn't need the father (again, no longer in the country and available to sign anything.) They received the correction form this morning and we already received an email telling us the transfer was processed with the DMV (not just submitted - finalized!) They then sent an email with the registration card that we could print out. They're expediting the delivery of the physical documents (registration and title) which should be here in a few days. We would never have gotten the documents so quickly from the DMV. In fact, the daughter changed the address on her license almost two months ago and still hasn't received her new license from the DMV. We're going to have to track that down. I may have accidentally hired them, but they made a very difficult situation a whole lot easier, faster, and less stressful. If you have a non-standard situation and the extra money to hire them, I do recommend using them.

The service worked exactly as advertised, clear steps and communications and saved me at least 3 hours (drive + usual wait times and possible counter frustrations.) If i compare their service fee to 3 hours of my time and a visit to the DMV that I saved, its really a no-brainer.

lots of negative reviews so I thought I would share my experience and why I gave them 5 stars. yes, the site does confuse you when you Google search "dmv California" or something relevant to . yes, its deceptive in that it makes you think you are using the DMV website. I didn't like either of those, honesty, I felt tricked into renewing my tags with them because of the afformentioned. BUT, I did get my new registration and decals the very next day and in less than 24hrs. I was sent an immediate email, all the emails I sent to their customer service were immediately answered, and I was provided a tracking number with Fedex by end of day. their "check order status" on the website was accurate and the tracking number is provided there as well. I paid an extra $80 total for this service: $50 to them and $30 for the overnight shipping. my tags were about to expire and this was worth it to me. If they would market themselves a little more honestly, they wouldn't have so many bad reviews, re: not trying to pass themselves off as the actual dmv. I gave them 5 stars because the service was impeccable, I received my registration in less than 24hrs, and that's all I really cared about.

I placed an order to renew my registration, (I was late… it slipped my mind) I received a confirmation email instantly letting me know my order was processed. I received a digital copy of my registration. my registration and stickers arrived the next day!! This must be the best thing out here!! I avoided standing in a long line at the DMV and I was able to provide my landlord the digital copy of my registration.. 2 birds 1 stone!!
