MY TWO MONTH NIGHTMARE… PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS website for ANY DMV related “services”. YOU WILL BE SORRY. Seller lives in CA, buyer (me) live out of state. 5/28 – I ordered a duplicate title and transfer of ownership. Sent in all forms required as stated on their website. 6/7 – Directions on website state to wait two weeks before contacting them. After no update, I email need tags to get a status update. I was told I need a separate form to fill out the mileage for the vehicle. This was not disclosed to me when I originally sent in the forms. If I didn’t email them, would I still be waiting??? 6/17 – I received the mileage form from need tags. 6/21 – Form filled out and mailed to seller in CA. 6/23 – Form mailed back to need tags. 6/25 – Form received by need tags. 6/28 – Emailed need tags. All docs received now. Was told it would take 4-6 weeks to process. Registration will be sent to me. Title will take 2-4 weeks and be mailed to seller. Order marked as complete and shipped with no tracking number provided. 7/2 – Received registration via regular mail. Paid $7.20 for shipping. 7/21 – Received title via CA DMV via regular mail. My advice to others even thinking about paying for this “service” is DO NOT DO IT! The fees are outrageous and insanely high. I paid $164 total for a duplicate title and title transfer. All of this took ALMOST TWO MONTHS! I am glad this is finally done and over with. I will never do business with needtags.com again and highly recommend you don’t either. If you are able and have a day off work JUST GO TO THE DMV. Trust me, it will be MUCH faster.

This is the worst payment system that I have encounter online. My payment was processed and my car tags were mailed out about two weeks later. A month later, I received a bill from the DMV with an $88.00 late fee. I tried calling needtags, but they have no active phone number, so I emailed Jane at orders@needtags. She was pointless!! She stated that my money was deposited back into my bank account on February 17th and that it should have been available in my account within 48 hours. I printed both February and March bank statements and I did not receive any deposit for the same amount of money. I told Jane that I would still pay for my tags again, but I asked her if they could waive the $88.00 late fee because I paid my registration on time. She said she could not help me or provide me with a clear answer. The entire experience and the way that it was handle was unprofessional.

I was looking to renew my tags online at the dmv. I was in a rush and not paying close attention. Ended up on this site. Paid with a credit card and realized after i printed my renewal that i hadnt used the CA DMV. Called them immediately when I realized they charged me almost $50 over my tag prices. Their employee I talked to wasnt even slightly helpful. She basically said "too bad" even though I explained Im a senior on a fixed income and cant afford $50. This site is the worst. AAA wouldnt have charged me anything.
