I got two pairs of progressive bifocals…
I got two pairs of progressive bifocals in different frames. One frame stressed the lens and the lens developed striations near the temple and the company did not warranty the workmanship. I have literally never worn these frames/glasses more than 5 minutes outside of my house. And the reason why I've never worn them is because the "reading" portion of the progressives is so tiny that I have to tilt my head 'way, 'way back to see out of the reading section. This makes it really hard to use a computer or actually read a book. The technicians mark the place where they see my pupils in the demo frames in the shop and measure. Ok, good. However, when I picked up the glasses, they just hand them over. They don't ask me to try them on or look to see if the progressive "sweet spot" is where it ought to be. One fellow explained that he's not qualified to do that. Apparently that sort of double-checking is beyond his pay grade. So, I went in and got two pairs of glasses that are sort of ok, but not at all "fitted". And frankly, for $700 (yes, progressives are pricey!), the frame prices were miniscule in comparison to the lenses, I really expect someone to check them out on my face when I get them.
