I had some feathering around the sides of my mouth - gone.

So many things made my experience great! First, some backstory. When I was in perimenopause, no one used that word. I literally never heard it until a coworker, 15+ years younger than me, said it one day. Thinking back, my perimenopause was "easy." I mean, I'd had maybe five hot flashes, total--far fewer than all my friends. But I had what we know now, are over a dozen other symptoms, for years. I'd never had HRT mentioned to me a single time to help with any of them from the multiple specialists I saw. Last year at age 64, having read Dr. Mary Claire Haver's book, I tried getting HRT through my local medical clinic. The first PA was kind, and listened to me, but wanted me to try "natural remedies" first. The second PA I saw gave me only one option for HRT: pellets. Then openly said that they are not FDA approved, they were $350/month, and that the office would not take my insurance for them. After a long discussion, she grudgingly prescribed me vaginal estrogen. My THIRD try was with an online provider (not Alloy, but one we've all heard of) and they gave me an immediate NO because I'd just turned 65 a couple weeks prior. I felt pretty hopeless. Last month (February) I gave it a shot with Alloy, fully expecting another "no." Within 90 minutes I had a YES, and the kindest response from my new doctor that I could've hoped for. Within a week I had my HRT in hand and started. The difference in how I felt was immediate/overnight. My mood improved, my joint pain decreased (and is still decreasing), my sleep quality improved enormously, I am more engaged with my family, and life in general. Life has that sparkle in it again, and I am so, so much happier. We don't really know how unwell we are, until we start to feel better, you know? And that long, slow, perimenopausal/menopausal decline is deceptive, and dangerous. My goal in getting HRT was, honestly, singular. I just wanted to extend my lifespan. I'm an old mom but still in good health. My two kids are almost 16 years apart, and I have one young granddaughter. I want to live as long as I can, in as good a condition as I can. And I knew I needed HRT to help with that goal. This is what I would say to anyone thinking about HRT: Just ask. Find a good doctor who will listen to you and talk with you. I highly recommend Alloy. They were the FIRST practitioners out of my four tries at getting HRT that made me feel heard. It never hurts to ask. And it could help so, so much.

Consulting the doctor was easy and speedy. However, delivery of the product was slow.

I really think both my products - topical estradiol as well as oral minoxidil, have proven effective already. I am exciting to continuing to use them for more effectiveness.

The experience was great because I truly felt heard. Last year I used Alloy for the first time to get some ideas and to back up information that I had been gleaning from my own personal research. I was excited when my doctor contacted me and corroborated what I had recently heard regarding healthy, older women and the commencement of MHT. It's terrific to have companies like Alloy and others band together to bring the resources and help that traditional "modern" medicine is seriously lagging on.
