Cables Loosening - Installation and Manufacturing Solution
Overall, the quality of materials met our standard. However, there are several items that led to a less than stellar experience. Over the course of stringing the railing wires, the wires would frequently loosen themselves to a great degree, even when following the instructions to the letter. Tightening on one side would result in the other spinning out, and the cables would loosen overnight or an even shorter period of time. We were using softer wood, yellow pine and cedar, and the tap is not needed to insert the screw end of the table. Even without pre-tapping the insert holes, the cables would still loosen. Tried using gorilla glue to hold the screw ends in place, still no luck. Ended up having to use construction adhesive, manually squeezed in every hole, to prevent the screw ends from backing out and the cable from loosening. The learning process was arduous and made installation quite difficult. Obviously, the cables cannot be too loose for safety reasons, so we could not accept their less than tight condition. It is of my opinion that the thread pitch on the screw inserts is not aggressive enough, allowing the tension of the table to pull the screw out of the hole until the tension is released. We literally watched the screws pull themselves out in front of our eyes. A more aggressive pitch would alleviate this problem, as the there simply isn't enough friction between the wood and the metal with the current thread size and pitch to prevent the screw inserts from loosening themselves, in our case, particularly in softer wood. Wanted to make sure you were aware of this and inquire whether others had experienced this issue.

Dear Craig, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate the effort you put into describing your installation experience and the challenges you faced. We’re very sorry to hear about the difficulties with cable loosening during your project. Your insights regarding the thread engagement and the performance in softer woods like yellow pine and cedar are extremely valuable. We’ve shared your feedback with our engineering team so they can further evaluate the thread design and explore potential improvements to ensure better compatibility across different wood types. Although this issue is quite rare — only a few similar cases have been reported over the past several years — we understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after following the instructions so carefully. We deeply appreciate your patience and persistence in finding a solution. If there’s anything else we can do to assist you, or if you’d like to discuss your project in more detail, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always here to help and continuously improve our products based on feedback like yours. Warm regards, Brandon Muzata Customer Support Team
