The 7 day free trial is very deceptive
The 7 day free trial can be complicated/deceptive. I attempted to acquire a 7 day free trial but was charged for a $70 annual subscription. I thought maybe it would be refunded after I cancelled (w/i 7 days), so I immediately contacted CS & they said because I had used a free trial 5 years prior & because I used the Apple Store for my free trial they could not refund me. None of this was worded on the free trial offer. Surely their product is not the same as five years ago & another look w/o obligation is not asking too much. It certainly complicated the issue & made me not want to even look at their product. Just didnt feel right. On my 2d text with Mondly, they did instruct me to go to Apple for refund (makes sense now) which I did & they very quickly refunded the $70. Just frustrates me that they would cause all of this confusion over a free trial from literally five years ago.

Hi, Thank you for sharing your experience — we’re really sorry it didn’t feel clear or straightforward. When starting a free trial via the App Store, Apple does display the subscription terms, including the price and renewal conditions, before confirmation. Since your original free trial was used years ago, the system initiated the subscription immediately. We're glad Apple was able to issue the refund, and as mentioned in our first response, they are the only ones who can handle cancellations and refunds for purchases made through their platform. We understand the situation was frustrating and truly appreciate you giving Mondly another try. Best regards, The Mondly Team
