Nearly $5,000 PC — More Troubleshooting Than Gaming
I purchased a META PCs Night Reaper V5 in September 2026 for approximately $4,474.25. My decision was influenced by the company’s advertising emphasizing the benefits of buying a professionally built PC rather than dealing with the complications of building and troubleshooting one yourself. Unfortunately, my ownership experience has been almost the exact opposite. The shipment arrived with damaged packaging, which I photographed and documented immediately. I initially encountered problems installing the supplied RTX 5080 graphics card, requiring assistance and instructions from META PCs support. Within weeks, the computer began experiencing intermittent startup failures, sometimes powering on without completing POST or reaching Windows. I followed the company’s troubleshooting instructions, including adjusting memory settings, physically rearranging RAM modules, restoring them to their original positions when instructed, and repeatedly removing the heavy computer from its mounting system. None of this established the cause of the failure or provided a reliable solution. I was subsequently presented with return options involving approximately $279 in shipping-related charges, fees for a RAM-only replacement process, or an advanced RAM replacement requiring upfront payment—even though the defective component had not been identified. Only after I requested management intervention did META PCs offer prepaid shipping both ways for a full-system RMA. I appreciate that concession and believe it was a positive step. However, I was then faced with questions about potentially purchasing a $100 packaging kit, safely removing the graphics card despite its earlier installation problems, and ensuring the return shipment would be covered against damage. I documented these concerns in writing and requested clarification. At the time of this review, I am still awaiting a substantive resolution. What disappoints me most is the difference between the company’s advertising and my actual experience. I purchased a professionally assembled premium computer to enjoy gaming and creative projects—not to spend hours troubleshooting hardware, repeatedly dismantling my setup, and negotiating the costs of warranty service. I do not expect every computer to be defect-free. I do expect a company selling expensive professionally assembled systems to stand behind its products and provide dependable after-sale support. My preference is still to have the computer properly repaired, thoroughly tested, and returned in reliable working condition. I hope META PCs resolves this situation and gives me a reason to update this review positively.
