I needed an API to obtain the rates for LME aluminum and copper, and the only one I found was metals-api.com. I had some doubts about integrating it, and the support team helped me out. Excellent support and a great API!

They suddenly changed our subscription terms without notice, and then told us we had to upgrade to a new plan (which costed $1,125 MORE - four-times as much as our current plan) to continue sending the same request volume we had been sending for more than three years. When we contacted support, they said this had always been the rate limit and they had experienced an "oversight" in enforcing it on our account. They refused to refund us even though we had just renewed our subscription not 10 days ago. I would recommend using literally any other service. We went with metalpriceapi.com who turned out to be 91.7% cheaper than the plan we were herded into by metals-api. I tested their API responses and their data is in parity with metals-api over the past 18 months (thats as far as I tested). Same data and higher rate limits for a fraction of the cost.

Removed their Free Plan without notice and disabled API When we sent an email to support, we received a standard response to sign up and pay. Really poor form, since we have invested in integrating the API with our ERP solution, on the basis was Free (with option to upgrade to paid plan if rates required more frequently than Daily). Very disappointing.
Response from Metals-APIJan 22, 2024
Hi, We truly apologize for any inconvenience caused by removing the Free Plan. The Free Plan was initially designed for trial purposes, allowing users to test the API's capabilities. However, it was discontinued some time ago. To ensure continued testing, we offer a 7-day trial period. We understand the importance of a smooth transition and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our communication and service.

I am deeply disappointed with my experience with Zyla Labs and their Metals API integration on zylalabs.com. I am extremely dissatisfied with how they handle their customers, especially when it comes to modifying packages. Recently, I wanted to upgrade my package, but to my surprise, Zyla Labs did not provide an option to simply upgrade my current package. Instead, I was forced to sign up for an entirely new package. This is completely unreasonable and nonsensical. Why should I have two separate packages when all I wanted was to upgrade my existing one? As a result, I now find myself in a situation where I unnecessarily have two packages with Zyla Labs. But that's not the only issue. When I decided to cancel my package, I was met with another disappointment. Zyla Labs immediately blocked my access to the API, even though I had already paid for a year. This means that not only have I lost my money for the entire year, but I also no longer have access to the API. This is an utterly unacceptable way of doing business. Customers should, at the very least, have the right to modify their packages without being coerced into signing up for additional ones. Furthermore, blocking API access after cancellation is completely unfair and unprofessional. Overall, I cannot recommend Zyla Labs' Metals API integration. Their lack of flexibility and their treatment of customers make it a worthless experience. I urge others to consider alternative options and choose a company that takes customer satisfaction seriously.

Hi, We sincerely regret the negative experience you've had, and we genuinely appreciate every piece of feedback as it helps us refine and enhance our services. It's important to note that the option for multiple packages was introduced based on requests from clients who needed temporary subscriptions for specific API calls, such as obtaining historical prices for gold or silver. We understand that this might have caused confusion, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Our internal dashboard has been continuously improving over time to enhance user-friendliness and prevent such isolated incidents in the future. We'll thoroughly review the situation to refine our processes further and ensure a smoother experience for our users. I'll escalate your concerns internally to explore ways to enhance our flexibility and policies based on your feedback. We truly appreciate your review, we regret any inconvenience encountered while using Metals-API.
