The home sunset point was beautiful & location awesome. Had a couple issues we got there and no coffee maker, dirty hand towel in master bath. They did bring a coffee maker the next day. They also delivered toiletries after we arrived. When we checked out about an hour after leaving I realized I left my hair volumizer in top drawer of master bath and I called immediately but still two moths later haven’t heard from anyone and I have reached out at least two more time. So cleaning service isn’t the best. I think it’s safe to assume someone stole my volumizer.

$2,600 for Five Nights: Urine Smell, No Working AC, and Zero Accountability
I’ve been coming to this Oregon coast town for nearly 30 years and have rented many homes here. I understand that issues can happen in vacation rentals—but what matters is how they are handled. Meredith Lodging has proven that they do not care about their customers experience in their rentals and they are not concerned with correcting a negative experience in order to maintain repeat customers.
We paid $2,600 for a five-night stay, and the two biggest issues defined the entire experience:
1. The house smelled of urine
From the moment we arrived, the house had a persistent urine odor that never fully went away during our stay. We repeatedly reported it, and while a rug was eventually removed, the smell remained in the home for all five days. It was never properly resolved after several claims that it would be addressed.
2. The advertised AC did not work
The house was advertised as having air conditioning, but it did not function at all during a summer stay. Bedrooms reached the high 70s, there wasn’t even a central fan for the HVAC system to circulate air. Opening windows wasn’t realistic due to road noise. When raised, we were told “not all houses have AC,” which is irrelevant—the listing clearly stated this one did.
Other issues included:
* Couldn’t access the house on arrival due to a non-working door code
* Broken toilet seat left in the upstairs bathroom
* Multiple service calls required just to get basic issues addressed
* Repeated promises of callbacks that never happened
* Partial cleaning efforts that did not resolve core problems
The Final issue: no follow-through
We spent the stay repeatedly calling for help instead of enjoying our vacation. Afterward, I requested a partial refund and was told it was being reviewed. Despite multiple follow-ups over weeks, I received no meaningful response and ultimately $0 in compensation.
Bottom line
A broken lock or a maintenance issue can be understandable. But:
* A house that smells like urine for an entire stay
* A non-functioning advertised AC system in summer
* And a complete lack of follow-through or accountability afterward
is not acceptable for a $2,600 rental.
I will not rent from this company again, and I would strongly encourage others to consider alternative options.

Most traumatic and disappointing stay
Most traumatic and disappointing stay. We paid approx. $2k for a 3-night stay, and our experience was beyond disappointing.
Our biggest concerns were the unsanitary conditions in the bedroom:
* What appeared to be a dried urine-like stain on the duvet, along with a strong unpleasant odor.
* Visible mold-like growth behind the nightstand, which Meredith Lodging’s own inspector documented.
* Dusty, musty bedding that did not feel clean.
What was even more concerning was how the situation was handled:
* We spent a large part of our last day waiting for inspections and communicating with Guest Services instead of enjoying our vacation.
* We repeatedly expressed that we were uncomfortable remaining in the home but were left in limbo for hours without a clear resolution or alternative accommodations.
* Meredith Lodging acknowledged the issues by offering to refund our $180 cleaning fee, but we did not feel that this adequately reflected the documented unsanitary conditions or the impact they had on our stay.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Meredith Lodging. No guest should have to question whether the place they are sleeping is sanitary or spend valuable vacation time trying to resolve issues that should never have occurred in the first place.

Do NOT rent through Meredith lodging
The location of Prince of Tides is its biggest advantage. It's close to the beach and an easy walk into town. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our stay.
From the moment we arrived, the house had a strong mildew odor. The cleanliness throughout the home was disappointing. Nearly every dish we pulled from the drawers and cabinets was dirty, the cookware was old, stained, and often put away unwashed, and the sheets were worn and stained. Every towel also smelled of mildew.
The home lacked many of the basic conveniences that make renting a vacation home worthwhile. There were no coffee filters, no ice, no extra blankets for the living room, and even the salt shaker that was left out was empty. We were provided with only two dishwasher pods and two laundry pods for a six-night stay, along with very few trash bags. While guests can certainly purchase these items themselves, the minimal supplies felt unusually stingy compared with other vacation rentals we've stayed in.
Several advertised amenities were also disappointing. The hot tub was full of pine needles when we arrived and appeared old, with a noticeable yellow tint. The outdoor furniture had no cushions, despite the listing indicating otherwise.
We were informed just two days before arrival that the oven was broken. It was not repaired until the fourth day of our six-night stay, despite being something we had planned to use. A toaster oven was provided as a substitute, but it wasn't an equivalent replacement for a full kitchen appliance.
There were also maintenance issues. The bathtub would not drain while showering. When I removed the stopper to clear it, large clumps of hair and soap buildup came out, suggesting it had not been properly cleaned or maintained. The towel rack in the upstairs bathroom kept falling and was not properly attached to the wall.
Customer service only added to the frustration. After I reported the condition of the hot tub, a maintenance employee or the owner arrived to vacuum it but insisted it had been clean before our arrival and even told me he had photos to prove it. He then dismissed my concerns about the clogged drain by explaining that long hair gets caught in drains, which completely missed the point that the drain should have been cleaned before guests checked in. It was one of the strangest and least professional interactions I've had while renting a vacation home.
Overall, this property felt neglected, poorly maintained, and lacking the attention to detail that guests reasonably expect. While the location is excellent, the cleanliness, maintenance issues, inadequate supplies, and disappointing customer service overshadowed any positives.
Based on this experience, I would not stay at Prince of Tides again, and I would hesitate to book another property managed by Meredith Vacation Lodging. If this home meets their standards, it raises serious concerns about their quality control and commitment to guest experience.

Sad Rental 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath Netarts…
Rented 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath Netarts Sundown July 2026. Disappointed by Meredith Lodging. Location was good.
But The foosball game in the family room is dangerous. The legs are breaking the player “rods” can be pulled out or jammed onto opponents stomach. It should be scrapped. The carafe does not fit the ancient garbage coffee maker properly. Home is decorated worse than a dorm room. The furniture was clearly picked up a yard sale or curb discards as well as the kitchen inventory. I would be embarrassed to entertain anyone at this residence.
The front steps are treacherous. Lack of outdoor table and chairs.
The lint door opening cut everyone that used it. A dismal property

Treated terribly
I requested a date change well over a month in advance. I was asked why I needed to change the date, which is inappropriate. I have never had to provide personal details like that with any other rental. My request was then declined and I was given a vague response as to why. I then told them the reason is I'm dealing with a death in my family, again none of their business. I was then told 'we will give you a one time date change' but the new dates were no longer available. They refused to refund the almost $600 I already paid and there response was 'pick a new date.' When I tried to call them, it was an outsourced customer service line where they told me the same thing and I asked to speak with a supervisor. She said she will have someone message me back or call me and I never heard back from anyone. They way I was treated was absolutely disgusting. I would stay away from Meredith lodging, they very clearly do not care about people at all.

We stayed at Beach Song in Depoe Bay…
We stayed at Beach Song in Depoe Bay and, unfortunately, it was the worst vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in. It was so disappointing that we left a day early.
The problems started as soon as we arrived. The washing machine didn’t work, the hot tub was dirty and smelled bad, and the oven malfunctioned and wouldn’t shut off, forcing my husband to shut off the breaker. We reported every issue to Meredith Lodging, and while they were always polite, nobody ever came to fix anything.
When I followed their troubleshooting instructions for the washing machine, it overflowed with soap suds all over the floor. We had to use every towel in the house to clean it up. I asked for replacement towels so our family of five could shower, but they never arrived.
Beyond the maintenance issues, the house itself is very dated. The beds were uncomfortable, and much of the furniture felt old, worn, and dirty.
The only real positive is the location. It’s a short walk to the water, and the neighborhood is charming. It’s a shame because this house has so much potential.
If the home is privately owned, I genuinely hope the owners consider a different management company. Meredith Lodging was friendly, but nothing we reported was ever addressed. We requested a 50% refund because we paid for a home with a kitchen, laundry, and hot tub, and we effectively couldn’t use any of them.

Disgusting property!
I don't even know where to start. We stayed at Hipnautica in Bella Beach. Washing machine leaked water every time you used it. refrigerator leaked water and it ruined the food we stored in it. It was disgusting as far as cleanliness, dust everywhere. The bed sheets were YELLOW!! The pillowcases were torn and yellow, looked like complete trash. I could go on and on, but I am appalled that anyone would stay in this unit!! It is so run down I cannot believe the owners would not want to invest in their million-dollar investment. It is complete trash.
