While my dog thrives on Maev food - the issue is the lack of customer support and ongoing delivery issues. I have been a customer of Maev for years - due to the quality of their food. However every other month there is a new issue with delivery and when you ask for help it is delayed and usually not helpful

The food may be high quality, but unfortunately my dog refused to eat it even after 10 days of trying. I understand the no-return policy, but I was disappointed that there was no flexibility or alternative solution for unopened bags. I wish the company offered a satisfaction guarantee for first-time customers.

Tried Maev for my 130lb Shilo Shepard who I feed a RAW appropriate diet. I needed something similar as we were headed on a 2 week trip. While I found the food good, it was terribly expensive for the amount of food you get. They did include a free dehydrated liver package (4.4oz) which my dog refused to eat. I used the Maev food as a topper to the food I had frozen and what I could purchase from Markets while on the road. While traveling, I did reschedule future shipments as they automatically sign you up for additional shipments. Since I had already decided that it was very expensive, even as a topper, I wanted to cancel. There is no cancel option on their site so you need to call or email. I also noticed they had included another shipment of the Liver treats scheduled to ship the next day. I had not ordered this. I sent off an email explaining I wish to cancel and stop this shipment. However, the response came the next day saying a rep would contact me. That took another day and in the meantime, the treat shipment went out. The rep did contact me saying he would cancel my 'subscription but nothing could be done about the shipment. I responded that I would pay $35 for 4 oz of liver treats that my dog refused to eat. NO RESPONSE. I plan on disputing the charge. Update. After several unanswered emails AJ emailed me back and was apologetic but did not offer to refund the charges. (10/31)

Disgusting Bloody mess! I have six working Australian Shepherd dogs. I have fed a lot of different types of food but this one was by far the worst experience. It arrived thawed and left a bloody mess in the post office and in my brand new car. My dogs definitely did not like it and it made them have diarrhea. The company will not give you a refund even though you are extremely dissatisfied with their product. Any company that does not offer a refund that’s your clue right there.

I’m having trouble reaching customer support. I sent an email to their support team on Oct 14th and haven’t heard a peep other than the automated message claiming they would try to respond within 24 hours. I am an experienced DIY raw feeder and am reviewing this product from that perspective. Maev’s raw dog food, in my opinion, is just ok. Seeing the individual ingredients may give customers peace of mind, but it would increase the convenience factor if they blended the ingredients so that every bowl could be balanced. There’s nothing wrong with balancing over time, this would simply be an improvement. The benefit of seeing the ingredients is I can see the proportion of the primary ingredients. I think they rely too much on beef liver as a source of calories. Liver is a vital ingredient and nutritionally dense, but over feeding secreting organs can lead to loose stool. The ratio of muscle meat is too low for my preference. Maev is a great option for those new to raw feeding; however, once you’re comfortable with raw feeding, if you have time to research to DIY or money for a better brand, I would transition off of Maev. Maev is amazing for convenience, but their recipes and customer service are severely lacking. My biggest concern now is that if I try to contact them to cancel, they won’t respond in time and I’ll keep getting charged. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.

I think the food is ok, although my vet pointed out that the way they list their nutritional info is a bit vague. My dogs definitely eat this stuff up except for the green beans, they pick them out. You also have to be sure to mix the bag up so there's an even distribution of protein:veggies. It's hard to say whether you are really getting your money's worth as I think the ratio of ingredients is inconsistent bag to bag. I also find that their site is designed in such a way to make it extremely difficult to modify / cancel the subscription. Similar brands don't make their sites un-navigable or play these games to lock in your monthly payments. It's just poor business practices and if they are dishonest about that - I question the product. Going to try a different brand.

Bleached potato and peas is not something that should be in a dog's diet - it's controversial. It's also more than half of the package (used to be different). My dog loves peanut butter but for some reason she rejects maevs peanut butter chunks and she's not a picky eater. The packages arrived partially frozen (many orders!) and according to my vet it could have contributed to severe periodontal disease that made my yorkie lose almost all her teeth. Swtiched to farmers dog and my dog is way happier.

Don't be fooled by the mod branding; this is not a good company. I can't imagine they will be around for the long run. First of all, some of these good reviews are clearly fake. (See the "retired grandma who absolutely adores her Cavelier spaniel" and writes like a Maev marketing manager) yeah right... They don't offer the option to cancel your subscription on your online account. Live chat doesn't work either. This is a dark/deceptive practice that they clearly decided to implement to reduce churn. It's a huge "f' you" to customers. It signals that they are willing to trap customers in a $250 a month subscription just to meet their numbers. Amazon was just sued for a similar practice with Prime. Major, major ick. On top of that, the product comes in a small boat's worth of insulation material. I've never felt like such an environmental monster as when I was throwing all this out. Lastly, it's pretty inconvenient. It takes up your ENTIRE freezer. You have to wash the bowl out after each feeding. And it's a huge serving size (8 cups for my dog). This makes it really hard to send to the boarding/daycare facility.
