Communication was excellent
Communication was excellent. The mentors provided valuable information and feedback while letting me keep my core ideas in place that I was passionate about. Always quick response times for edits and questions. And they were always honest about my application and their opinions.

Beware new people considering Medschoolcoach…
Update: Jennifer in MSC team did process my refund and apologized. For this I am thankful to her and updating my review for her understanding and getting my $$ back, but it did happen after lot of follow ups, added stress and wasted my daughter's crucial time.
New people considering these advisors should really do their due diligence and not fall for their bogus claims ! I bought director level package in hopes of getting a specific physician who was promised to me until the date I bought the package. As soon as I paid, i was assigned different physician. They kept on telling me lies where reality was that specific physician wasn't available. On top of it the college advisor they assigned went on leave and they had no clue when she would be back and so they asked me to switch to standard level advisor and then switch back to her, once she is available. On asking questions after i paid, they take long time and multiple reminders and always answer in circles and never get back with actual stats of allotted advising team. They say sorry but never fix the issue.

Hi Parul,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear how disappointed and frustrated you feel. We understand how important this process is for students and their families, and we recognize that your experience did not meet the expectations you had when you chose to work with us.
We sincerely apologize for the frustration surrounding your advisor assignment and the unexpected leave of your college advisor. We understand how unsettling those changes can be, particularly when they occur early in the advising process. While advisor availability can sometimes change unexpectedly, we recognize that clear communication and setting appropriate expectations are critical, and we're sorry that you felt we fell short in both areas. Our goal is always to provide transparent communication and timely support, and it is disappointing to learn that this was not your experience.
With respect to your request to discontinue services, I want to acknowledge that I have processed your refund and canceled your subscription. While we do have established refund policies that are applied consistently across all clients, I wanted to ensure your request was handled as promptly as possible.
We appreciate you sharing your feedback, as it helps us identify opportunities to improve both our communication and the experience we provide to our students and families. We are genuinely sorry that we were not able to earn your confidence, and we wish your child every success as they continue their journey toward medical school.
Best regards,
Jennifer Urso

MedSchoolCoach Review
worked with Dr. Choo and Wendy during my medical school application cycle. Working with Dr. Choo before and throughout my gap year really helped me navigate how to approach specific opportunities. She was also extremely responsive and provided helpful advice whenever I reached out to her.
I found Dr. Choo and Wendy’s feedback especially valuable when building my medical school list, editing my activities section, and approaching secondary essay topics. I also used the interview platform, which was incredibly beneficial to my application experience. Every physician I worked with gave me valuable pointers and practical advice on how to structure and improve my responses, and I was able to see an immediate improvement in my interview style. Dr. Sharon Thompson, Dr. James Li, and Dr. Kate Spencer were instrumental in helping me develop an interview format and framework that worked for me, and I am extremely grateful to have practiced with them!
The only aspect of the service that did not meet the same high standard was the personal statement writing support. As someone who struggles with narrative writing, I was expecting more individualized guidance in developing a compelling and cohesive story. Although I received feedback and editing assistance, I ultimately felt that my personal statement remained somewhat stale and did not fully capture my personality or represent my experiences as openly and authentically as I had hoped. I would have benefited from more collaborative brainstorming and deeper guidance on how to bring my experiences to life, rather than primarily focusing on revisions to my existing draft.
Overall, I am grateful to have used this service during my medical school application cycle, and I would definitely use the interview platform again!

Thank you so much, Khushi, for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review and for trusting MedSchoolCoach throughout your medical school application journey.
We're thrilled to hear that Dr. Choo and Wendy were able to provide the guidance and support you needed during your gap year and application cycle. It's also wonderful to know that Dr. Sharon Thompson, Dr. James Li, and Dr. Kate Spencer helped you build confidence and develop an interview approach that made an immediate impact. We'll be sure to share your kind words with the entire team as they'll mean a great deal to them.
We also sincerely appreciate your candid feedback regarding the personal statement writing support. We understand how important it is for a personal statement to authentically reflect an applicant's unique story, and we're sorry that your experience didn't fully meet your expectations. Your comments about wanting more collaborative brainstorming and deeper guidance are valuable, and we'll share them with our writing team as we continue to refine and improve our coaching process.
Thank you again for your feedback and for allowing us to be part of your journey. We wish you continued success in medical school and beyond!

TERRIBLE MCAT TUTORING- DO NOT USE
I used the 10 hour MCAT tutoring and the service were terrible. There was nothing useful I learned and I could have used that time to study on my own than waste it on an expensive, useless service

Minimal and outdated advice…
I signed up for the platinum residency advising package because I wanted to get an early start on the whole match process to put myself in the best position possible for more competitive programs but my experience has been so bad and not helpful.
One of the big reasons I went with this company was because they advertise their high match rate (like >97%). I was super clear that I’m starting early because I wanted to target more competitive programs, but it felt like my advisor kept pushing me toward less competitive programs and even specialties suggesting I also include family medicine at one point. It makes me wonder if their match rate is real and if it is really that good, is that because they’re steering people into easier programs and specialties.
Overall, it was hard to get in touch with my advisor and when I finally got feedback on my PS, it was basically just tiny grammar edits that any online grammar check or AI could have caught and fixed. I thought the goal would be more to really understand my story and help me redo it into something stronger that really conveyed a connection. I switched advisors thinking the first was just a bad match, but the second one wasn’t much better. Both advisors were older with years and years of doing this and also supposedly had “admissions experience,” but I didn’t get the sense that experience was recent. I felt like their advice was outdated and kind of out of touch like they were giving advice based on how things were and not how they are now.
For how expensive the platinum package is, I was expecting someone who was more dedicated to helping me present myself well, but instead I’ve gotten surface‑level edits, inconsistent communication, and advice that doesn’t match my goals. I asked for a refund or at least a partial refund for the services I haven’t used yet since I didn’t want to continue with them, and I was referred to someone who told me they don’t offer refunds but I could “transfer” the rest of my package to someone else if someone wanted to buy it from me. I wouldn’t recommend this company so selling my leftover package to another person feels wrong. Overall, very dissatisfied and don’t recommend

Hi Nathan,
My name is Jennifer Urso, and I am the Vice President of Services at MedSchoolCoach. I’m very sorry to hear that you feel dissatisfied with your experience, as the level of support you described does not align with the standard we strive to provide our students.
That said, I would appreciate the opportunity to look into your concerns directly. Unfortunately, based on the information provided in this review, I have not been able to locate your account in our system. We also have not had any students named Nathan enrolled in our Residency advising program recently, nor have we had any residency students named Nathan request a refund within the last year.
If you are comfortable doing so, please email me directly ([email protected]) with your last name and the email address associated with your account so I can personally review your experience, advisor interactions, communication history, and package details in full.
I also want to clarify that our advisors are never instructed to steer students toward “easier” specialties or programs simply to preserve match statistics. Our role is to provide strategic guidance based on a student’s overall profile, goals, competitiveness, and risk tolerance while still supporting aspirational applications where appropriate.
We take concerns regarding communication quality, advising strategy, and written feedback very seriously, and I would genuinely welcome the opportunity to investigate this further and determine whether there was a disconnect in expectations or service delivery.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Urso
