Buyer beware!! Medi-Share do not cover screenings AT ALL even if you meet your very high deductible. They would rather have other members “share” the cost of your chemotherapy than pay for a colonoscopy and catch it early. Not to mention potential loss of life (but that’s not their problem I suppose). To me, this is unconscionable and the opposite of Christian behavior. They do not make this clear when you sign up and certainly don’t mention it in their radio commercials. They state they have 98% customer satisfaction. Not sure where they pull this statistic from, just take a look at this website. When you sign up they make you sign paperwork to say that your are not gay and you are not committing adultery. So does mean they won’t pay out it they find out to the contrary? Absolutely ridiculous business model and they should be ashamed.

We had Medishare for about 8 years
We had Medishare for about 8 years. My family is fairly healthy so we (thank goodness) rarely went to the doctor. I avoided the doctor at all cost because it cost a fortune. Recently we needed it for a couple of important issues. Both no doctors within an hour of me would take Medishare despite being 30 miles from 2 large cities. I searched for a surgeon for my injured child for days. I called at least 10 doctors ON THEIR LIST and NONE of them took Medishare. So they lie big time about which and how many physicians take Medishare. All of the doctors that I called said that their office does not take it anymore because Medishare does not pay the claims. I talked to 4 people at Medishare and all of them acted like the physicians office gave me incorrect information. It was a nightmare.

tried to cancel
tried to cancel, they put me on hold for over an hour! I knew at that point, it was intentional, what a unprofessional company that hides behind christian value! Had to go to my bank and put a stop on these sinners!

Steer clear!
I called for more information as a prospective customer since I missed open enrollment for health insurance, and..... wow! There are so many disturbing things about their membership requirements, but two things that stood out the most were their requirements to "fellowship on a regular basis," and the use of cannabis will disqualify you from their services.
The "fellowship" requirements give a very cult-like vibe (is it only me?), and I can't make sense of why they believe they have the right to "require" this from their members, or why their members do not see how wrong this is.
Secondly, disallowing the use of cannabis? I use it very seldom and responsibly, 1-2 hits a month (a bowl lasts me several weeks), just to help myself relax. I understand that there are people who abuse it..... same as those abusing pharmaceuticals...... But as a so-called Christian organization, you'll put a blanket restriction on cannabis, which is all-natural, supports local business, and has endless science-backed medicinal benefits.....
BUT, you'll support Big Pharma and have no problem filling the pockets of people like Fauci? The hypocrisy here is insane! I'm especially angry about this, because I've had extensive experience with our "healthcare system," and believe me when I say that it does NOT want you well, because you make them a LOT of money as long as you are sick.
However, I've never met a natural medicine practitioner who didn't want their patients well. And one of the leading remedies for countless ailments is cannabis! But no, this "Christian" organization would rather fund the system that tries to keep us sick.
I was raised in a very Christian household, and thought Medishare might have been a good alternative option since I still maintain many of my Christian values. But I left the church in my early 20s because of the hypocrisy, and this was a great reminder to stay far away. Steer clear! Unless you're already part of the cult..... then I'm sorry for you.

Two Years of Hell in Christian Care
In two years with this "sharing" insurance, I find nothing Christian about its values or operations. We had to fight tooth and nail, appealing multiple times, simply to get basic coverage -- and we never did get reimbursed on several expenses.
My partner actually has PTSD from having to call them so many times and go through to many appeals. And every time, they want to "pray" for you while not giving you the benefits you paid for.
Never going back... I did not think there was something worse than state-backed health insurance companies, but this one is bad, bad news.

I've been in medishare since 2016
I've been in medishare since 2016. Sadly, we are leaving because something has changed and can't quite put my finger on it. Not sure what has changed, but our "annual household portion is $5,500. We have paid $8,155 so far out of pocket this year of $21,678 in bills. Supposedly they secured all these "discounts" for the rest, but if I had just said I didn't have insurance I'd have been better off and would have saved $ for them and my family. Self-pay is almost always 50% of what most doctors/hospitals are charging. So $21,000 worth of bills could have been $10,500 and this actually might have worked...but the way it's set up and their aversion to "preventative" care makes this a bad fit for our family. Still owe $3400 in bills that they deemed "excessive" so be alert that you hold the bag on those. Total out of pocket this year will be over $11k. I could have easily self payed this year! And I payed $9k in sharing on top of that. So...$20k for healthcare in 2024...thanks to the broken healthcare of the US and Medishare's approach to the broken healthcare of the US.
