Faulty “Apple” phone case
My “Apple” silicone phone case started peeling after 4 weeks. I reported this to the company and they did offer me a replacement. As I am unconvinced that it is a genuine Apple case, I requested a full refund, to be told that I would have to pay for return postage from the UK to the USA. When I said I would raise a dispute with Amex, the company said that “this constitutes theft”. Appalling customer service. I would avoid buying from this company. *UPDATE* American Express have ruled in my favour and credited my account with £39.95. 27th January 2025

Dear Ruth, What actually happened was this: You reported that the case you received was slightly damaged, possibly from a fall. In response, we offered to replace it at no cost to you, even without requiring the item’s return. However, you stated that you didn’t want a replacement—you just wanted a refund. When we explained that we could not process a refund without the item being returned, you told us you would open a chargeback instead. A chargeback in this situation is effectively theft. It involves taking the money from us while falsely representing the facts to your bank. Your bank may side with you, but that doesn’t change the fact that the chargeback process is being misused. If you truly wanted a functional case, why not accept the free replacement we offered? It appears the intent was simply to keep the case without paying for it. If being upfront about this makes us a “horrible” company in your eyes, so be it. However, we have been more than fair, even offering to replace cases that Apple itself would not replace—cases that showed obvious signs of damage after several months of use. While we value kindness and good customer service, that does not mean we are obligated to bow to threats of negative feedback or bad reviews. We stand by the fairness of our policies and the efforts we made to resolve this matter. Update: No, PayPal closed case in our favour and paid off to buyer from their back funds. Regards, MaxPureCases Team
