I'm not usually a person who leaves negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. This company contacted me on LinkedIn so I was expecting a professional experience... which is what I got up until the moment I declined to make an investment of thousands of dollars on the spot with no opportunity to do my own research and ask additional questions from that research. I would not make a purchase of any kind for that amount of money on a whim, and I didn't appreciate feeling pressured to act in a manner that is clearly not fiscally responsible. I also didn't appreciate the salesman I spoke to (don't even remember his name) in the Dallas office asking me personal questions only to later use them as a manipulative tactic to force a sale... or recommending that I use my savings to pay for a dating service as this was my last and only chance to find a partner. The whole interaction was distasteful and when I declined, he folded his arms and said "Interview over." And the polite, professional gentleman who had greeted me at the door had completely disappeared. I would like to know how to retrieve my personal information and/or request to have it shredded. I have never felt so disrespected by a professional service in my life.

If I could give them less than one star, I would. They have been awful! I paid over $6,000 in 2024, at their branch in Dallas, TX (Actually, Carrolton, TX). They promised 12 introductions that would match my criteria. Well, there have been maybe 6 introductions, and maybe only one met my criteria. Janelle, my matchmaker was EXTREMELY RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE with me today. It is just unacceptable behavior. One thing is to not get the matches, but being disrespected in that manner is totally unacceptable and very, very, very unprofessional behavior. I should say that I'm 70 years old, so when I signed up I was 68, and IF there are not enough people around my age signing up for this service, they should've told me, instead of telling me that they have "plenty" of available men. Also, they don't check to see if the person is lying. The very first match they gave me was the TOTAL OPPOSITE of what I had asked for, so I asked him, why would they refer him to me, and he said, "oh, I just filled out what I thought they wanted to hear on the application." That makes me think that they probably don't even do a background check. I don't know, but it doesn't sound like they check or verify that the information the person is giving is correct or incorrect, and I thought that was what makes the difference between this service and going on an online dating app. I see now, that there is no difference. This is extremely frustrating. In my case, it has been a huge fiasco. Meaning, that they take advantage of elderly people like me. How? by lying!! Why pay thousands of dollars when the dating apps are maybe around $50/month? And I really do NOT see how this company and the dating apps are different, if everybody lies, and we just have to go through the frustration... Maybe it works for younger people? I don't know.

I have had an amazing experience with the Matchmaking team. Michelle and Denise were very professional and personable. Michelle got to know me pretty well. She communicated with me on a consistent basis. I found Love again ❤️ A wonderful man I would not have met without The Matchmaking Company and Michelle.

I paid for their matchmaking services on August 16. It took a week to complete my background check, but I was given very little information about the program or what to expect. I was patient for about three weeks before asking to speak with a manager and offering friendly feedback. Unfortunately, my matchmaker, Presley, continued to communicate primarily by text, dropped two scheduled calls with vague messages, failed to follow up when she said she would, and did not explain important parts of the process. I did not even know I was supposed to receive or set up a profile because no one told me. I was also never given a direct phone number or extension for my matchmaker. Presley never took the time for a proper introductory call to actually get to know me. Finding a life partner is an extremely important decision, and I don't believe a matchmaker can do that effectively by simply relying on information in a file. I was also pressured by Nancy from the Fort Mill, SC office to upgrade my membership on three separate occasions. Comments such as “if you want to do it the right way” and “I couldn't convince you” made the experience feel more like a sales process than matchmaking. After I raised my concerns with management, I received a match that felt completely misaligned with my stated preferences: a 57-year-old man in Chicago while I live in North Carolina, with an education level below mine, when I had indicated that I preferred someone closer to my age with an equal or higher level of education. I am a well-traveled European/US dual citizen with a sophisticated lifestyle, and the explanation for the match was essentially that we were both from countries that were geographically close and both had accents. I would have expected an introductory conversation with me first to understand who I am and what I am looking for. I understand that finding the right match can take time. If there simply weren't suitable matches near me, I would have appreciated honest communication about that. But after five weeks, I still had not received a proper introduction, profile setup, meaningful communication, or a match that appeared aligned with my criteria. I live in a high-income area and would have been open to someone within a reasonable driving distance. I also tried to separate my experience with the individual matchmakers from my overall experience with the company. Stacey on the main line was excellent. Noemi, the manager, was pleasant, and I gave the company two additional weeks to address my concerns. However, after I specifically explained that communication and repeated pressure to upgrade were my biggest concerns, I expected to be reassigned to someone with stronger communication skills. That did not happen. I was genuinely excited about this process and hopeful when I signed up. Instead, I became frustrated by having to repeatedly initiate communication and ask for basic information. At five weeks, I disputed the charges and requested to be removed from their database. My concern is not that I wasn't immediately matched. My concern is that I paid thousands of dollars for a personalized matchmaking service and never felt that anyone took the time to understand me. I wish I could have written a great review and shared a happy ending. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. Looking at the reviews here, I am not seeing good testimonials. I’m just seeing people being asked to write a positive note in exchange for an additional match and the rest seem to be sharing bad experiences.

Do not trust them. Get everything in writing. Record the sales conversation. I was told there would be a personality assessment & that the matchmaker would get to know the personality of the clients. Neither of these things happened. They matched me with people who did not even come close to the personality type that I was promised during the sales process. The company will say "we can't know how a dynamic is going to evolve or someone's personality will manifest during a date" but this is only true to a certain extent: It is obvious when someone's behavior and mannerisms are the exact opposite of what I've asked for that the company put in zero effort into personalizing the service based on my main match preference. I asked for a very reasonable refund of less than half of what I gave them and they automatically declined it with zero research on their part and without giving me any avenue to appeal & tell my story to the people with the power to give a refund.

The company failed to align with consumer safety, transparency, and the criteria established during my onboarding. I asked them to cancel and refund me based on the following material issues. 1. Omission of Material Restrictions: During my introduction to my first match, I discovered an an alarming information asymmetry. The gentleman had been given full access to my profile and background details (which I did not agree too or knew this was even a thing) while the agency completely withheld his identity from me. When I questioned this, my MM stated " Oh she (Francie) didn't tell you this restriction exists because you do not have a certain membership tier". She told me it was a $1,000 more to find out information on candidates. This restrictive, multi-tiered policy was never disclosed to me prior to signing, nor is it explicitly stated in my contract that my physical safety and basic right to transparency would be based on tier pricing. Francie told me that the tier level was based on coaching sessions. I have a two witnesses to back me about this. One is a friend that sat thru the whole process with Francie and the other I initially referred prior to me finding out the deception that I was given. Needless to say, this made me feel violated and vulnerable. 2. Failure to Honor Criteria: The second introduction provided to me was entirely incompatible even after a long discussion with Audrianna. The individual possessed traits and criteria that was not even close to what I discussed with Francie and Audrianna. I have of course not heard back from them and am disputing with my bank. Also, since signing I have gotten calls everyday from lenders trying to sell me a loan. After reading all of the negative reviews, this company does not care or stand by customer satisfaction not to mention safety. To date, has 118 complaints to the BBB. I will be adding to this number. I’m really pleased with the attention that has been given to my requests. I’ve asked to be placed on a happy hold for now. My last match shares a lot of the same values as I have. I’m going to enjoy learning more about this wonderful lady. Thanks team I really feel like you’re doing a great job. You’ve studied my feedback, made adjustments and helped me find someone that I am looking forward to spending more time with.

Don't waste your time or your money on this company. My experience was that they assured me they were "absolutely certain" they would find me a wonderful partner. I had only tried the commonly used online dating services, so I foolishly believed the Matchmaking company would be different. They told me I would have my own personal matchmaker, who would guide me and follow up after my dates. The cost seemed outrageous, however, I was deceived by their enthusiasm to sign up, and paid $1,500. They are very slick with their sales pitch. It turned out that my assigned matches were mostly unhealthy old men who did not fit my stated preferences, and with every match, I had a different "personal" matchmaker following up with me. Also, two of the men I was matched with didn't bother to show up for the date, yet they counted as two of my five allowed matches. This service is no better than Match.com or any of the others. These people are thieves and liars. Don't trust them!
