My Experience With The Matchmaking Company
My Experience With The Matchmaking Company — Please Read Before Signing
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with The Matchmaking Company in Orlando, Florida, and I strongly encourage anyone considering their services to read this before spending thousands of dollars.
I approached this company in good faith, genuinely hoping to find a meaningful relationship. Instead, I walked away feeling that my trust and my desire to find love had been taken advantage of.
From the very beginning, the intake process was presented as an exclusive opportunity. I was told I would first need to be interviewed to determine whether I would be accepted into their program. The entire presentation made me feel that this was a highly selective matchmaking agency, where not everyone qualified to become a member.
In my opinion, this created a powerful sense of exclusivity and made the service appear more special and credible. Looking back, I question whether this impression was part of a sales strategy designed to make prospective clients feel privileged to be accepted.
During my interview, the intake director, Lori DeJesus, spoke confidently about their wonderful database of eligible matches. She encouraged me to describe my dream partner and assured me that they had the people to meet my expectations.
Most importantly, Lori personally added handwritten language to my contract referring to what would happen if I was “not engaged” after six dates. This was not simply a verbal conversation. Engagement-related language was actually written into my contract.
Based on those representations, I paid $6,000 upfront.
I completed five dates. The proposed sixth match was so incompatible based on our telephone conversation that I canceled the actual date.
My disappointment is not simply about unsuccessful dates. It is about the enormous difference between the expectations created during the sales presentation and the service I actually received.
What makes this situation even more upsetting is the company’s handling of my complaint. I have made multiple attempts to contact corporate management and formally requested a full refund. Despite the seriousness of my concerns and the substantial amount of money involved, I have not received a response addressing my refund request.
People approach matchmaking agencies with genuine hope, trust, and sometimes emotional vulnerability. In my opinion, using an impression of exclusivity, personal assurances, and promises of exceptional matches to persuade someone to pay thousands of dollars upfront deserves serious scrutiny.
Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that people DO NOT sign up with The Matchmaking Company.
Do your research. Read customer complaints. Do not let anyone make you feel that you must make an immediate financial commitment because you have supposedly been selected for an exclusive opportunity.
I sincerely wish someone had warned me before I signed.
I am sharing my experience because I do not want other people looking for love in good faith to go through what I have experienced.
I will update this review if the company responds and resolves my complaint. Response to The Matchmaking Team in regards to their recent response to my review: I have already contacted The Matchmaking Company directly using my full name and membership information regarding these exact same concerns, so the company does know who I am and has the information necessary to identify my account. I contacted corporate with this complaint and, to date, have not received a substantive response.
My review is not simply about disappointment with “chemistry” or a relationship outcome. My concern is about specific representations made to me before I signed the $6,000 contract, including a handwritten provision added to my contract regarding being engaged after six dates. I have documentation of that provision.
I would welcome a direct response addressing those specific concerns rather than a general statement that the company cannot identify me because I used initials in this review
Response from The Matchmaking CompanyOct 13, 2026
We're sorry to hear about your disappointment and appreciate you sharing your concerns. However, because this review was posted under initials rather than a full name, we're unable to identify your membership or verify the specific details of your experience.
At The Matchmaking Company, we take a personalized, feedback-driven approach to helping clients find meaningful connections. While chemistry and relationship outcomes cannot be guaranteed, we remain committed to providing thoughtful introductions and supporting our clients throughout their journey.
We take concerns regarding communication, expectations, and membership terms seriously. We encourage you to contact our team directly using the name associated with your membership so we can review your concerns and discuss the best path forward. Our goal is always to provide a positive, supportive matchmaking experience.

A Total Waste of Time and Money
The initial interview was extensive, and the questions were quite detailed. For instance, I was asked about my political affiliation and my net worth. I assumed the information I provided would help establish criteria for the matches they proposed.
This was not the case at all. The first referral was a very good potential match, until she told me she was a steadfast Trump supporter. That ended our coffee date.
My next three referrals all indicated financial concerns or stress. They mentioned “having trouble making ends meet,” and being “unable to afford the things they need or want.” The final referral lived in a trailer park on the edge of town.
After those four contacts, I paused my account and frankly have no interest in receiving any more referrals. This whole experience was a real disappointment, a total waste of time and money.
Response from The Matchmaking CompanyOct 13, 2026
Mike, we're sorry to hear that your experience has not met your expectations. We understand how important it is to find someone who shares your values, lifestyle, and long-term relationship goals.
Our consultation process is intentionally thorough so we can better understand your preferences and what matters most to you. We also want to clarify that your membership includes our Pre-Approval feature, which allows you to review each potential introduction and decide whether you'd like to move forward before a date is arranged. This gives you an active role in the selection process.
While we carefully consider your preferences, compatibility involves many factors, and not every introduction will lead to a romantic connection. Our matchmaking process is feedback-driven, allowing us to learn from each experience and further refine your search.
We respect your decision to place your membership on hold, but we would genuinely welcome the opportunity to continue working together when you're ready. Our goal remains to help you find a meaningful connection, and we hope to move forward in a more positive direction.

Predatory Sales Tactics, Broken Promises, and Zero Service Delivered
Predatory Sales Tactics, Broken Promises, and Zero Service Delivered: The Truth About The Matchmaking Company
To anyone considering The Matchmaking Company at 2150 E. Lake Cook Road, 9th Floor, Buffalo Grove: exercise extreme caution and do not give them your money. They rely on aggressive sales consultation tactics to lock clients into binding, non-refundable agreements totaling thousands of dollars. They sell you on a grand vision of an exclusive, highly curated service, but once the funds clear, everything falls apart.
In early 2026, I scheduled an appointment with The Matchmaking Company and consulted with Peggy.
Key personnel completely failed to uphold the representations made during onboarding:
1. Peggy, the high-pressure sales representative, pushed the initial consultation and secured the contract based on verbal promises of a tailored database.
2. Noemi, the matchmaker assigned to handle my file, completely failed to execute based on my evolving matchmaking criteria.
On May 16, 2026, I formally submitted explicit, written updates to Noemi about my search criteria—focusing on core compatibility, emotional maturity, and long-term relocation alignment to Florida. Despite having these precise, documented parameters, she produced zero viable matches and failed to meet basic service standards.
When I demanded my money back due to their total failure to perform, the company refused accountability and hid behind rigid, non-refundable contract language. Because they retained my funds while delivering zero viable results, I filed formal consumer complaints with the Illinois Attorney General's Office—citing the Illinois Dating Referral Services Act (815 ILCS 615/40(b)), which provides that contracts entered into under misleading representations are void and unenforceable—and submitted detailed evidence files to my issuing banks to initiate payment disputes. Instead of correcting their service failures or fulfilling their obligations, their legal representation spent all their energy weaponizing fine-print contract provisions to block my disputes and keep my funds.
Protect yourself before interacting with this business:
1. Refuse to sign any agreement or submit payment during an initial consultation with sales reps.
2. Demand explicit, written refund guarantees before paying a single dime—verbal claims from their sales team are completely worthless.
3. Keep an exhaustive written trail of every criteria submission, email update, and service failure with your matchmakers.
4. Immediately report any deceptive practices or non-performance to regulatory bodies like the Illinois Attorney General and your financial institution's fraud/dispute division.
This company prioritizes exploiting fine-print clauses over providing a quality service or delivering substantive matchmaking results. Do not let them take advantage of your trust—take your business elsewhere and protect your hard-earned money.
UPDATE: Response to The Matchmaking Company's argument
The merchant’s response relies on wordplay to confuse "database inventory" with actual, rendered matchmaking services.
Database Profiles Are Not Completed Services: Claiming "potential opportunities were available" does not constitute completed service delivery. A client paying thousands of dollars expects completed, in-person introductions, not text-message leads that fail basic compatibility checks or result in zero dates.
Written Admission of Zero Available Matches: The merchant’s own legal counsel explicitly admitted in writing to state regulators (Attorney General File No. 2026-CONSC-00232153) that when I requested service on June 9, 2026, potential introductions were "not immediately available."
Refining Parameters Is Standard Protocol: Communicating updated preferences regarding emotional maturity and life goals after receiving non-viable leads is standard procedure, not a failure to collaborate. Blaming a paying client for expecting basic standards does not excuse a lack of local inventory.
I stand by my original review. Retaining client funds while delivering zero completed, in-person dates remains unacceptable.
Response from The Matchmaking CompanyOct 5, 2026
Eric, we take concerns like these seriously, but we respectfully disagree with the characterization that no service was provided or that there were no potential opportunities available to you.
Our team had potential introductions available to explore with you as part of the matchmaking process. However, you ultimately chose not to move forward with those opportunities or continue participating in the process. Matchmaking is collaborative, and we cannot fully evaluate compatibility or refine future introductions when a client chooses not to proceed with the potential matches being presented for consideration.
We also recognize that your criteria evolved during your membership. Changes involving compatibility, geography, and future relocation can significantly affect the available pool, and our approach remains focused on **quality over quantity** rather than presenting introductions simply to meet a timeline.
Membership terms, including cancellation and refund provisions, are provided at enrollment. Because you have chosen to pursue formal complaints and financial disputes, those matters are best addressed through the appropriate channels rather than debated publicly.
While we respect that you are dissatisfied with your experience, we do not believe it is accurate to characterize the program as providing “zero service” when potential introductions were available and you chose not to move forward with the process.

The interview process was great
The interview process was great. I felt heard and expressed what I was looking for. I was looking forward to the experience.
The early introductions did not seem to be a match. I thought I might have more input in the selection process, but I didn't. I started receiving the coaching sessions with Victoria and she was so kind and asked questions that really helped me think about what was important. She went over and above on her own time to really get to know about my journey.
In closing my last introduction has been a good match. We are currently dating a month now enjoying our time together.
Response from The Matchmaking CompanyOct 5, 2026
Jolene, we really appreciate you sharing the full journey. Matchmaking can take some refining, and we’re so glad Victoria’s thoughtful coaching helped you feel supported and clarify what matters most to you.
Most of all, we love hearing that your latest introduction has become a promising connection and that you’ve enjoyed your time together for a month now! We hope it continues to grow into something truly special.

This company does not return calls
This company does not return calls. It is very hard to speak with a manager
They do not review your preferences before trying to connect you with a dating match. I will be filing a formal complaint if I don’t get my concerns addressed this week.
Updated 10/1. I did hear from the company. Agreed to wait for them to search more and to communicate better. On standby for now
Response from The Matchmaking CompanyOct 1, 2026
We’re sorry to hear about your frustration with communication. We take concerns about unanswered calls and difficulty connecting with the appropriate team members seriously, and we understand how important timely communication is throughout the matchmaking process.
We also want to clarify that client preferences are an important part of how potential introductions are considered. Our Matchmakers review preferences alongside values, lifestyle, relationship goals, compatibility, geography, mutual availability, and the feedback received throughout the process. While every introduction may not align perfectly with every preference, matches are not selected without consideration of the information provided by the client.
Because this review was posted under “Dc,” we’re unable to identify the account and review the specific communication or introductions referenced. We encourage you to contact us using the name associated with your membership so we can properly look into your concerns and work toward a resolution.

I don’t even know where to begin
I don’t even know where to begin. I was convinced to drop a load of money because “the men they have invested as well and are quite serious about finding a quality match.” The matchmaker they assigned to me was new and I could tell she didn’t seem to know what she was doing. She wasn’t answering questions with confidence and seemed nervous. Even admitted her supervisor was standing right behind her. I was given my first “match” and we went out this past weekend. He was compatible in some ways but the attraction was not there. What was even more interesting is that he has been a client for almost a year and hasn’t paid a dime!! So much for the men who have put forth the effort and money. I have filed a cc dispute and also a complaint with the BBB. Avoid this company at all costs!!! Oh I almost forgot. They said they have numerous men that would be great and compatible for me and after this first one they said it will be awhile because they don’t have many men at all and hope it picks up during the holiday season. Lies lies lies
Response from The Matchmaking CompanySep 29, 2026
Kerri, we’re sorry your first introduction did not result in the connection you hoped for. While you noted there were areas of compatibility, attraction and chemistry are deeply personal and cannot be guaranteed. Feedback from each introduction is an important part of helping your Matchmaker better understand what works for you and refine the search moving forward.
We also cannot discuss another client’s membership, financial arrangements, or circumstances publicly. Membership structures can vary, and another individual’s situation does not determine their level of commitment or intentions when participating in an introduction.
Matchmaking is focused on quality over quantity, and availability can fluctuate based on preferences, geography, compatibility, and mutual interest. We would rather take the appropriate time to identify a thoughtful potential match than provide introductions simply for the sake of frequency.
After only one completed introduction, your journey is still in its early stages, and we respectfully disagree with the characterization that the process is based on dishonesty. Our team will be reaching out to discuss your concerns directly, and we hope we can move forward together in a more positive and productive way.
