My journey with Marek started positively. I met with my health coach, prepared a plan, got blood work done, and ordered supplements based off results. My supplements arrived quickly and I started feeling positive changes. Then I was notified by a different Marek employee that I'd been assigned a new health coach. Awhile later, I was assigned yet another health coach. Within the one year I worked with Marek, I had three different health coaches. I feel because of this, my wants and needs were lost along the way. My goal had always been to supplement for just long enough, and wean myself off, because I wanted to fix the root of the problem in my body. By the third health coach, I was encouraged to increase dosages in some of the supplements. Clearly against what I wanted from the beginning. When I decided to quit taking them altogether, I was met with an attitude - as if my health coach of one month knew me better than I knew myself. This is when I decided I was better off without this company's help. Pros: -easy to get comprehensive labs and bloodwork done -virtual appointments are convenient Cons: -cost: expensive and cannot submit to insurance -the seemingly ever changing health coaches -delayed shipment/lost order of supplements: something between Marek and Empower Pharmacy in Texas wasn't done correctly and left me without my refilled supplements for a month

Let me begin by saying Marek Health showed me the best, most accurate and comprehensive labs I've received to date and I will likely use their lab service related items in the future. However, and let me preface this by saying I didn't follow Mareks Coaching/Treatment plan exactly, but thw reasons Marek earns only 2 stars from me are as follows: First, As a company that is reportedly harolded as being progressive I didn't feel valued or listened to as a patient, I get it, I'm not high roller, no professional bodybuilder and definitely no millionaire, but I felt that my feedback regarding the treatment was ignored or devalued. Second, If I had purchased every item that they suggested for coaching/treatment I would have been spending upwards of $3000 every couple months especially because they don't take insurance. I don't know who can afford all their "essential" treatments let alone their "reccomended" ones as well but I would have minded so much if in doing my own research I could source almost EVERY product myself at a similar quality for a monumentally less expensive price. I really tried everything outside of that, but there are some things which are unable to be fixed and need pharmacological assistance which they failed to see, understand or provide. Caveat this occurred most of 2023, if they're different now I'd gladly change my perspective.

I'm surprised by all the positive reviews, as my experience with Marek Health has been disappointing and, frankly, a waste of money. After signing up and completing testing, they provide a detailed report of your biomarkers—but with much narrower 'optimal' ranges than those typically used in the medical field. While they claim this is for 'optimization,' it seems more like a strategy to push medications and supplements. Seeing nearly all of my markers flagged as problematic based on their adjusted ranges was concerning. Their solution? A long list of supplement recommendations—conveniently, all sold by them. This approach is fundamentally unscientific. Effective health interventions require adjusting one variable at a time, yet their method encourages taking multiple supplements at once, making it impossible to determine what’s actually working. To make matters worse, there has been little to no follow-up. In the end, you pay for tests you could get from any doctor, only to receive recommendations for thousands of dollars' worth of supplements—many of which lack strong scientific backing.

I used marek health after my husband had reached out to them for his own health optimization. Unfortunately, my experience was completely opposite of his. I had a different “sales” person who was not efficient. I was charged double for vitamins that I could have purchased online myself. I gained 10lbs from a prescription they prescribed, and when I reached out to my health coach he said “oh yes, that can be normal”. Why would I want to gain weight, when I started this journey to optimize my health inside and out. Never again. Once he realized I wasn’t happy, he never reached out again. After spending $1,500, to me it just a money scam.

I am not happy with my representative. I don't feel like he is paying any attention to my meetings, results, etc... I felt like I needed to check all his work. He delivers like he is reading from a script and not hearing what I am saying. Please move my account to another rep

8/18/23. Initially, I paid $250 for basic bloodwork. I setup my appointment, which was easy and close by. I was in and out within 15 minutes. I got my results in 7 days. I got online to schedule my appointment for someone to discuss my results only to realize they want another $250, plus the possibility of more lab work and more money. What!? I thought the $250 included a consultation. I just wanted to discuss the first blood work! Complete scam!! I was excited at first only to realize it was to good to be true! Very disappointed. 8/23/23- update. I appreciate your response and willingness to resolve this matter and the confusion of the various fees. I look forward to hearing from you and the opportunity to review my lab results.

I like the treatment plan and testing I've gotten at Marek Health. Jamie MacFarlane is my PCC, and he's 5/5. I have a lot of questions, and he takes the time to answer them, sometimes digging up published research to help me understand the treatment I'm getting. Marek Health itself does have a big issue though. It's their partnership with Empower Pharmacy. The fact that the doctors I'm talking to at Marek Health won't write me a prescription that I can fill at my pharmacy of choice makes it seem as if part of their business model is to finesse patients out of money when it comes to drugs. A lot of money. Every (generic) drug they've prescribed to me is up to SEVEN TIMES more expensive through Marek Health / Empower Pharmacy than what I pay (without insurance) at Cost Plus Drugs. To give you a concrete example, 90 tablets of 10 mg Ezetimibe cost me $67.50 and an additional $30 in shipping when I bought it through Marek Health / Empower Pharmacy. A subtotal of $97.5 before taxes. It costs $8.40 and $5 shipping to get the exact same thing from Cost Plus Drugs, and Cost Plus Drugs is making money from that. A subtotal of $13.50 before taxes. In total, Marek Health started me on 5 prescriptions, and all of them are at these gouging markups. My advice to current and future patients is to run all of your test results and the treatment plan you’re given past your primary care provider, and if it all checks out, have your primary care provider write you the prescriptions instead. You will save hundreds per refill and thousands per year. Edit: My local pharmacy and Cost Plus Drugs are also not charities, yet they are orders of magnitude cheaper (without insurance). The PCP and specialists I see locally tailor their treatment to my needs without it being charity, either. I pay Marek Health for all of their services, not just drugs. I even gave them a good review for their non-drug services. Yet this response. A response which, by the way, confirms that gouging patients on drugs is intentional.
