My experience with the Lumiere Research Scholar Program was incredibly rewarding! It allowed me to explore my interests in economics and sustainability through independent research. I think what made my experience better was the process of selecting mentors; for example, my mentor, Tolu, was so amazing and made my learning journey 10 times better. As for what makes Lumiere education different, it is that academics are important, but you also need some experience in your respective field of research to get in. Unlike other programs where academics are the main pass/fail point, I do consider Lumiere more of an aware company that sees the potential apart from other variables.

Before attending Lumiere, I had no prior knowledge on how to write a research paper. During the program, I didn't only learn how a research paper is written, I also advanced my critical thinking skills and my ability to comprehend more complex ideas. Of course, I didn't do all of that alone. My mentor guided me throughout the entire process. She was very patient and supportive, and I'm grateful for her effort and guidance. Overall, I think Lumiere is a great opportunity to learn and experience writing a research paper. It is a challenging but equally rewarding journey, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do research and believes in themselves to overcome the challenges.
